Hem came undone after 1 washing

Until I washed these (delicate, cold), these were my favorite shorts. Now that I have re-hemmed them, I do love them as they fit well, true to size, and comfortable. But the hem completely fell apart after washing. There were only stitches to hold up the hem in four places per leg. Poor design. No one should have to mend after washing like that.
