Verified Buyer Reviewed by Minam River Rat from Eastern Oregon on Monday, August 27, 2012The Primus shelter is nicely designed and well-made. I uae it whilw camping on river trips. I use it as a tent, not a beach shelter and like its openness, ease of erection, and light weight.
The poles are lightweght aluminum. I don't know how much snow they can take. The stakes are aluminum wire and don't have much holding ability although they can be backed-up by filling the attached sand pockets.- Best Uses: Rafting backpacking
- Pros: Floor screened ventilati, Good 3season protection, Intuitive easy set up

Reviewed by Backpacking Dad from NC on Sunday, August 19, 2012I'm not sure how 3 adults could possibly use this shelter. It was just barely big enough for my 6 and 9 year old kids, if they overlapped their 3/4 length sleeping pads. It did keep them dry (from the top) through a red and purple rain storm but water easily came up through the floor. And with a completely open front, I can't imagine using it with nightime temps below 65 degrees.
Definitely not something to rely on except in mostly dry, warm weather.- Best Uses: Shelter for one, Warm weather
- Cons: Tiny, Too small for 2 kids
- Pros: Fast to pitch, Lightweight
