Personally, I think the polyvinyl palm and finger tip patches reduce the dexterity, but I can see them blocking a wood splinter, or easing the difficulty of handling a heavy chain, picking up a hot piece of metal etc... The TPR protection for the back of the hands is a bonus, the first time it saves your knuckles, you'll understand. I've had other gloves at 3 times the price that offer nothing more. These are great for light to heavy duty jobs and the price is fantastic.
