Thickness seems to be thin.
It's good to pack because weight is not heavy,
I like breathing when I wear it. It seems to be good for bad weather.
This winter seems to be a very useful item.

Light weight for the protection.
very long sleevesReviewed by Bill from NJ on Friday, April 6, 2018Product is very nice quality. However, it seems like they sized the sleeves for gorillas. I have other Rab jackets in the same size and the sleeves are perfectly normal. This one is about 3" longer than it needs to be. Since there's no elastic at the sleeve cuffs, it means the velcro needs to be opened and closed every time I put on and take off the jacket.
Excellent jacket all around.Verified Buyer Reviewed by XENOTAR from HONG KONG on Thursday, March 15, 2018The neoshell should be the most breathable option out there. I like the size and arrangement of the pockets.
RabVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mike from AR on Wednesday, February 7, 2018Great jacket for outside activities, very comfortable. Sleeves a little longer than I like but with the velco wrist not a big issue
Awesome jacketVerified Buyer Reviewed by Brian from OR on Monday, February 5, 2018Do your research on Polartec neoshell and this manufacturer which isn't well known in the US and you will see that this is a serious and nice shell. It's one of the most breathable materials, with a waterproof rating of 10,000mm, has fully sealed zippers, and minimalist pockets and design including a great hood with some flexibility and rigidity. I bought this jacket for the OR coast, but it will make a great light weight piece for alpine ascents and backpacking. I like minimalist gear where one piece of apparel is versatile. This shell is that and is available at an unbelievable closeout price. I think original retail is around $350, although this model was discontinued in 2016.
I like it more with every useIVerified Buyer Reviewed by Patrick from Rutherford NJ on Friday, February 2, 2018Best hardshell better Than GORTEX ideal for Ice climbing or hike (i used as one of many layers during hike)
Lightweight but ToughVerified Buyer Reviewed by Snokat Al from East of the Everglades on Tuesday, January 30, 2018Love this shell. I have several Polartec Neoshell items now and buy nothing else these days. Breathability!
I got a large which fit my 6'2" 195 lb. frame perfectly. I have a Rab shell pant with the Neoshell, this jacket will go nicely with that.
Jacket is so light I would definitely say it is packable. Nice long sleeves and a real droptail. Also like the neck/collar design with the hood. Simple and straightforward for spring skiing.
Also works well here on windy, chilly dog walks.
Great buyVerified Buyer Reviewed by Seth from Mass on Wednesday, January 10, 2018Awesome coat. Perfect cut for me. I have a large and I am 6’1” and 185lbs. Rab makes great products. Neo shell is what it is but all the seam tape is great. Metal zippers glide without issue. Haven’t had it in extreme winds yet so can’t say exactly what it will handle but it’s deffinatly a jacket for above treeline. Light weight.
Good looking, functional jacketVerified Buyer Reviewed by Mary the Hiker from Salt Lake City on Tuesday, January 2, 2018Purchased this jacket for my son--the red is pretty bright but he didn't complain. He hasn't used it yet, but it seems to fit true to size (slightly long sleeves). Very lightweight, and hopefully very waterproof too.
Question & Answer
Questions about this product? Get answers from community and staff experts.
“What is the denier of the face fabric?”
I am not certain -- I would estimate that this is pretty "standard" denier. It is not thick, nor is it thin like a super lightweight rain shell.
“Does this have pit zips or core zips at all?”
No. No need, Neoshell breathes.
No additional zips--but the jacket is great and I'd still highly recommend it.
This product is not pits zips.
Only the basic zipper is visible in the product.
This item does not have ventilation zips, but the fabric is breathable.
