  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. Unique addition to outdoor decor!

I put this in the middle of the patio table and love looking at the fire. It's large and stable and seems very safe. Thanks to the reviewer who recommended the gel fuel! I dug around on the internet and found that another recommended fuel for this item is "fanola fuel". I just ordered a case (12 1-liter bottles, the only way they sell it) on the Fanola website. I will probably buy some dark lava-looking rocks and switch out the white ones for a different look. STP did a great job wrapping this up securely for shipping, and it arrived safely :-)

This is a beautiful accessory even when it's not lit. I use this as a centerpiece on my coffee table in my den, and take it outside when I'm entertaining outdoors. I get many compliments!!
  • 2.0 out of 5 stars. Fragile glass chimney not packaged safely, shattered before arrival by iron base loose in same large box. No replacement glass yet… waiting...

I could hear shattered glass rattling from the instant I moved the single, XXL box in which both the (very) heavy iron base and a poorly internally protected glass cylinder package were loose. There was nothing in the XXL box to secure or protect the glass from the base, which looked like they’d been just tossed in the larger box to save on postage without any concerns.

The glass chimney was, off course, utterly shattered - there was no section left un-broken - and the sections are long, thin and razor sharp. I can tell you from this that the chimney - which I feel ought to have been made of tempered glass.

When broken, tempered glass is much safer.

Had the glass not been packaged so very poorly - and not been casually tossed ion a huge box with a massive metal base - a had they packed the chimney needed sinc shying - they used layers of cut box material to firmly hold the glass in it’s box with nothing that had any “give.” I called STP immediately - a week ago now - and emailed pics of the broken glass in its box, untouched- for good reason.

I still don’t have the “exchange" glass chimney - though I was told it ought to have been at my nearby former address - and i stopped there yesterday evening and today to check. This has been a debacle for what ought to have arrived yesterday.

What a waste and so much hassle for an “luxury, fun item” - not inexpensive - that I might have, and still hope they can ship carefully enough to use and enjoy. Gazing in to the flames is nice - but not enough care is being taken to ship this well - and so I don’t recommend buying this item.
