  • 4.0 out of 5 stars. A Very Good Skinning Knife overall

I particularly like the curve of the belly (the curve near the tip) as it would be great for slicing through viscera between muscles and skin if you are skinning an animal. It would kind of work with fish although I'd prefer a fish knife which is much more flexible and with a narrow tip to get between bones or skinning fish, also being faster than a Skinning Knife. The Remington has nice figure in the wood although the finish isn't glossy. But for a hunting knife you really don't want a knife-handle to be too reflective. The surface of the wood was somewhat irregular, but Walnut is not the easiest wood to shape as the density varies at times. It does not have a cartilage/ligament cutting edge, but frankly I have never needed that feature on any knife and have certainly had plenty of opportunity to cut cartilage. Cartilage Cutting edges are useless features which are far more important to neophytes. I've seen those on Jackknives which really are a poor idea as they make opening the knife difficult with one hand, which is a major criteria for having a jackknife.
All in all I really like having this knife and it was a good price to boot. I have it sitting on my computer so I can pull it out and handle it to get hand oils on the wood, occasionally I will put on wood polish for the wood as well as polish the leather sheath with oxblood wax (a favorite of mine). I like the reddish hue of Oxblood.

The knife is what appears in the picture. It isn't all out fancy, but it is more than a fish knife as another reviewer stated. I like the fairly deep belly of the blade as that would be nice for slicing the viscera between skin and muscle. For fish the tip is better as fish meat tends to be so much more tender than red meat, which probably is why a fillet knife is so slim and flexible.
The handle appears to be a nice dense piece of Walnut with some figuring in it. The finish on the wood is fairly dull and with some flatter portions to the curvature around the handle (not unexpected on Walnut). But hecky-darn with a little wax, finish or hand oil to it you can bring up more luster to the wood. What I'm saying is this is a very functional hunting knife for hunters of big game. It is made in America. I would be sorely depressed to loose it in the snow as I did one time before. In that instance I went back in the later Spring. After sort of wandering around retracing my steps, sort of recognizing places I thought I was at the spot, I looked left, then right, then down and there was the knife right between my feet. Should you all be that fortunate.

I bought these for my King bed, because of the deep pockets , i loved the color grey, unfortunately i washed them so I could put them on, first wash and the pillow case seam came apart ! they also shrunk so that they are not as deep pocket as when I first took them out of the package to try on the bed to make sure they would fit , before washing them .
I sent back the other 2 sets of these that i had got in different colors .
