I had read quite a bit about vapour rise products before ordering -- in the UK a lot of climbers and walkers love them for their wind resistance, breathability, and moisture wicking. That all sounded good but I guess I was expecting something more like a traditional softshell and this is not that. It consists of a thin pertex exterior with a decently thick tricot liner on the inside of the jacket. The liner is a drop liner and hangs loosely from the exterior fabric. All in all it feels like a windshirt with a loose fleecy lining (it's kind of odd). If you don't mind the alternative approach to the softshell it probably be a pretty versatile active shell for cool weather.

I bought the Rab Exodus for my brother - and it was amazing!!! I wanted one for myself and they sold out, sad - so I bought this one instead. Its warm, very warm, great pit zips - nice color but the shell is different than most, it has a lining that is separated from the material and its very thin, I bought this for climbing and I can see it ripping in an off width or chimney. Either tossing it back or giving it to a XC Ski buddy,

This jacket is great! I was on the fence about whether to give it a 5 or 4 star rating due to the sizing, but decided to give it a 5 anyway. I am a 6'1", 180lbs. I initially bought the L but after trying it on I felt some tension behind the shoulders and under the arms. I have longer arms and the arm length on the jacket was great for me. There is a jump in the room of the body/torso of the jacket from the L to XL, giving me a little more space than necessary but so far the jacket has been great at blocking spring wind and regulating my temperature. I plan on using this as a mid-layer on colder days and as my go-to outerwear on those spring and fall hikes that may be a bit cooler. Overall I am excited about this jacket and will be using it for a long time!
