Lowe Alpine Lost Valley Soft Shell Jacket - Waterproof (For Men)
Closeouts. Lowe Alpine's Lost Valley soft shell jacket is a trekking jacket that combines the waterproof breathable protection of a hard shell with the comfort of a soft shell. A breathable mesh lining and wire-brimmed hood help you stay comfortable in changing conditions.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by DougR from Calgary, Canada on Wednesday, October 5, 2016I've owned 4 previous waterproof jackets from different manufacturers and this one is the best by far. The main thing for this is two things: the fabric on the outside of the jacket feels like cotton (but is not) and is matte in finish. But it is totally waterproof and the water just beads and runs off of it. The second reason is that it folds up really small and is very light so a great jacket to take hiking.
It is also very smart. It has 2 side pockets which are a the perfect height to walk comfortably with your hands in your pockets. There is another pocket just inside the zip flap (which has velcro fasteners; which is great for putting stuff that you want to get quickly. There are no inside pockets.
The inside has a mesh lining from the top to three quarters the way down
The only drawback of this jacket is that the hood does not have a stiff front part to keep rain away from the face. Instead there is a bendable padded wire at the front of the hood which I guess it is expected to do the same thing. It doesn't concern me as I am bald and I wear a cap going out in the rain which keeps the rain from my face.
Other than that, it is a fantastic jacket and I have since bought a second one of a different color.
