Danner East Ridge Gore-Tex® Hunting Boots - Waterproof, Insulated (For Men)

Closeouts. Nothing keeps your feet dry and comfortable quite like Gore-Tex®, which is why Danner's East Ridge Gore-Tex® hunting boots are a supreme choice. Thinsulate® Ultra insulation keeps your feet toasty warm in cold weather, and the Vibram® lugged outsole offers excellent traction on less-than-cooperative terrain. And when they get worn out, these boots are easy to repair, so you can get even more years out of them.

Just received the Danner East Ridge boots. Plan on putting these through the rigors soon, but here's my initial take:

"Made in United States of America." Well, not exactly. Yes, these boots may be assembled in the USA, but the inside label reads "with imported components." Not a deal killer, especially since most textiles are made in China these days, but would have appreciated some transparency/ truth in advertising.

My size 9's fit perfectly (true to size), and honestly feel great—soft and warm. And room enough for wearing a medium-thickness sock comfortably.

Vertical measurement from back of the heel to the top lip is about 9.5". The gusset top (max waterproof height) is 8". I stood in 7" of cold bathtub water for about 3 minutes. Stayed waterproof and warm.

Oddly, the gussets are not scored or creased, so it's a little funny to line up. Perhaps they will naturally score after wearing over time.

The Danners feel very lightweight, and not stiff at all.

The Vibram soles feel like a softer variety with plenty of ply. With rubber soles it's always a tradeoff between (a) soft/grippy or (b) hard/tough-lasting. Vibram makes several varieties of sole treads, and I'm hoping these softer ones will be grip monsters on wet rocks.

    Overall, very pleased.

Amazing product. Tested it in 6 inches of water for ten minutes right out of box. Not a drop leaked in. So glad they are made in Portland.

Bought my first pair of Danners in 1976. I love all styles of their boots, usually buy two pairs at a time of the same style. My first pair was 10D and now I wear a 12 or 13 EE. Bought some hiking boots back in the 80's with the air bob sole, best sole they ever made for any terrain or condition. It is with regret that I have to return the East Ridge that ordered in 13EE. It fits like a 12D. Like the boot but the insulation takes up too much space. Would like to see a more aggressive tread or ideally the air bob sole on this boot.

I really like these boots. I have worn them quite a bit since receiving them. When I first put them on I thought " no break in necessary". But they have broken in some and keep feeling better. I have worn them in slush and water a few inches deep and they kept my feet dry and warm. I have put about 35 miles on them running the dogs and worked around the farm in them a few days. I am pretty pleased with them. I can't comment on long term durability.

I have two gripes with them. The first is they came with cheesy insoles. I replaced them the first day with some I already had. Not a big deal to me for the deal I got. I expect to replace stock insoles anyhow, but expected a little better qualty on the insoles.

The other is they don't seem to have real good grip on slippery hills. But that seems to be getting better as the soles loosen up. Time will tell.

Have yet to break in but tried on and these boots definitely run small. Definitely order at least a half size up.

These bad boys are awesome. These are my first pair of Danner's. I have a huge foot and I ordered a size 16. I was worried they were going to be super heavy. THEY ARE LIGHTWEIGHT compared to other hunting boots. I haven't had a chance to take them out hunting yet. All the features of this boot is exactly what I wanted. Insulation, waterproof gore-tex, vibram soles, and super comfortable. I wore them first day I got them and they are really easy to break in. Very impressed and I'm glad I purchased these.
