I bought this backpack for a short backpacking trip at the grand canyon. It fit everything I needed and distributed the weight evenly. The main compartment is easily accessible and there are many other compartments to keep everything organized. The side pouches for the water bottles are a little small but you can fit a full sized gatorade if you put some effort. The only problem I had was the first time I tested it on a hike, I wore a racer back shirt and the straps rubbed on my shoulders. I wore a normal t shirt and I was fine on my other hikes.

I'm short and have a hard time finding a pack that fits comfortably and is big enough to hold all of my climbing gear. This one is the best I've found and doesn't feel heavy at all!

I've had the similar older Jade 50 for years, so when my sister needed a pack this is the first thing we looked at. She tried on some others too but this one stood out in terms of comfort and fit. It's very adjustable. Good number of pockets for organization. Lightweight fabric that resists abrasion and water well. You can get a week out of this pack if you have small/light gear and experience, otherwise it's perfect for 2 nights. You can just barely jam a Bear Vault 500 canister in it but if possible get the smaller BV-450 model. Excellent customer service from Gregory (and of course from STP). If it fits you, you can't get a better pack!

Disclaimer we will use it full scale this weekend on a 2.5 day trip so this review is about the quality, space, initial comfort, design. If anything changes after the trip I will update the review. This appears to be a comfortable roomy pack that is well thought out. It comes with a rain cover. It is sharp looking and appears to be sturdy and lightweight. The hip belt is comfortable and has pockets for easy access to snacks etc. The only minor complaint was the chest strap is a little high on the shoulder straps. It swallowed up a sleeping pad, sleeping bag, 6L of water extra clothes and food for 1 day with room left over.

I bought this backpack recently after much hesitation on whether or not I would even enjoy backpacking. My best friends have been avid backpackers and so I finally took the plunge. When it arrived, I found that it fit me perfectly (I'm 5'4, ~120) and the weight distribution was amazing. I have taken small loads on day trips so far to try and build my stamina, with a planned Havasupai falls trip in March and a summer trip through Sequioa NP. I'm glad I invested in a Gregory pack because it's everything i wanted!

Also, be sure to buy your water bladder separately - it has the pouch for it.

Very happy with this backpack. Color was more Teal than blue, which was a nice surprise. This one is for my niece. My daughter used this same model on a 4 day JMT backpacking trip and I used the older Jade 50 model. We were both very happy with the packs. And, for those who wish to use it for airplane travel, I think this works for carry on.
