Verified Buyer Reviewed by Heather from New Jersey on Wednesday, November 16, 2016I was impressed about how thick these were. Reference: I am 5'7, 135lbs athletic hour glass shape. But super disappointed with how low the crotch comes up. I also have super long torso and short legs so I was even more disappointed. The pattern discontinues about mid upper thigh which wouldn't be a problem if the crotch came up higher. Overall I will keep these but they could be better.
Reviewed by SJS from NYC on Thursday, September 22, 2016I loved the pattern of these—it makes the tights look much dressier than I expected—but reluctantly had to send them back, because the foot part looks so terrible with flats or heels (basically anything other than loafers/boots).
Basically: The pattern doesn't extend very far down the sides or heel of the foot. The bottom and sides of the foot, along with the heel and toe, are opaque—and the opaque part is visible when worn with heels or flats, no matter how carefully I try to arrange the fabric. The opacity isn't quite as noticeable with the blue tights as with the black (I ordered both).
Size up! I'm 5'7" and 125 pounds, generally a size 2 or so, and ordered a medium—and they were borderline too short. If I intended to keep the tights, I might go with a size large, so as not to have the dreaded penguin-crotch effect after a few hours of wearing.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Dog's Mom from SF Bay Area on Saturday, February 13, 2016I couldn't take the itch and returned them. Too heavy and warm for my climate.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Anna from Oregon on Sunday, February 7, 2016I have SmartWool base layer tights and I don't think those are itchy, but these were a bit itchy! They were very warm and comfortable otherwise, but I returned them because of the itch. Also, make sure to judge the size off of your height -- I got a small, which was just a tiny bit short for me (I'm 5' 4", 125 lbs.).
Reviewed by Ginger from Hartford on Wednesday, January 27, 2016Everytime I try a pair of Smartwool tights, I find I have to go up a full size and then if I am lucky, they are perfect. This brand seems to have both a very skinny and a regular cut to their tights. I don't remember the name of the very skinny version, perhaps "tights II tight"? I can wear the large, although according to their own size chart I am a medium. The ink blue is a very pretty dark blue. The black looks a little more grey, since the weave is a bit open. It looks nice, but I did not want a second pair of greyish-black tights, so I only kept the blue ones. Glad I tried them out, though. When I find the right ones, I wear them every week in the winter.
