I have several styles of Salomon shoes and boots (some old hiking shoes of unknown style, hiking boots Quest 4D GTX, XR Crossmax1 Neutral Trail, XR Mission1 Climashield Door to Trail, SenseMantra3 City Trail) and all were comfortable right out of the box. These Wings Pro Mountain Trail are not. The opening rubs my ankle bone, and one shoe rubs across the top of my foot where the big toe bends at the foot with each step. I wore them for a 2 mile hike, and these issues were present for at least the first mile. Very disappointing. I am hoping that the shoe comfort will improve with some break-in time. I find the XR Mission1 and the SenseMantra3 to be the most comfortable of all of the styles that I wear. I have a great appreciation for the roomy toe box in all of these Salomon styles.

These shoes are a great fit, just remember they run a little large. I order 1/2 size smaller. Great fit right out of the box, but they are a little stiff, I expect that since it is a trail running shoe. The other Salomons I have owned stretch out a little which led me to ordering a 1/2 size smaller. I have a narrow foot.

Fit was not good in either size I ordered and I also didn’t like the color once I got them.

I love Solomons and have 4 pair. and I love everything about this shoe, Except for the laces. When I tighten the laces (i lean towards a narrow foot), the top hold on the laces is right next to the front of my ankle where it bends, and it becomes painful after 20 minutes. if I loosen it, then my foot is not secure in the shoe. so I had to send them back. to bad!

We ordered several pairs to try on, and my wife ended up liking the XA Pro 3D better. This shoe is a little lighter, and she is preparing for a 30-mile mountain/trail race, so went with the beefier shoe this time. She thought this shoe might not be sturdy enough to hold up for both the training period and the race. Still, she thought it was a nice shoe, and Salomon definitely seems to have the stability, traction, and lacing-system designs figured out.

I love Salomon shoes. I did not keep these because I did not want to be all blue. I had the purple trail runners and would notice that I matched my coat or a sweater. This light blue is the very shade of a favorite coat and blue jeans. I do not like wearing all one shade. It is a very personal thing, I've recently followed through with.

I have found the Salomon shoes to be long lasting and the sole to be more resilient and comfortable than other shoes for fast walking on a hard surface.
