SmartWool Akalii Striped Flannel Shirt - Merino Wool, Long Sleeve (For Men)

Closeouts. SmartWool busts on the flannel scene like a pro with the SmartWool Akalii striped flannel shirt. This classic button-down gets a performance upgrade with a hefty dose of temperature-controlling, itch-free merino wool, but retains its cozy softness with cotton, polyester and a finely brushed finish. Modern stripes and an eye-catching pocket complete the look.

I love the colour & design of the shirt, and I think it should provide reasonable warm in cool weather. However, it is not soft enough and it can be described as quite "rigid". I think it will affect the comfortability.

I wore this during a week of camping across southern AZ. It provided a warm, stink-resistant shirt to wear when I was re-engaged in civilization, but also was functional and durable around camp. It's a good shirt for travelers and is made of (mostly) natural fibers that stands apart from synthetic 'travel' clothing. Somewhat slim-fitting, but not too much. I think it will get softer with use, but already is pretty comfortable.

6'0", 180 lbs. w/ 34/35 length arms, this shirt in the Large size is $$$ for me. While normally proportioned flannels (like what I think the other reviewers might have been expecting) usually don't fit me well, this shirts looks and feels great. Yeah, it's a button-up so it's not keeping out any wind, but if you're into layering up this will be a stylish and versatile piece that seems about as durable as wool shirts get.

This shirt looks very good, unfortunately the sleeves, in size L, are 2" too long, which is coincidentally the length of the cuff, hence my comment that these are probably seconds.

Due to the blend, the shirt is not very warm, requiring a warm underlayer to retain heat in cool or cold temperatures. The hand is also fairly stiff, compared to an Icebreaker for example. I have not washed the shirt yet to see how it handles machine washing.

I have found all of SmartWool products to be of high quality, this shirt included. I'm 5'11" 170, a true 42 in coat size. The size L shirt fits me well, but is slim fitting rather than generous. The cold water washability is also a nice feature. It pretty much looks exactly as featured in the ad.

Love the material but if you have big arms the sleeves are tight
