We are a family of avid hunters, and seasons often occur during the coldest times of early winter. This base layer provides an amazing level of warmth in frigid temperatures, and doesn't retain perspiration odors. Cover this with another layer for the mornings and evenings - it can be used alone during the middle of the day.

Got these base layers for most of the adults on my Christmas list and everyone was thrilled! I have had one for 2 years and can honestly say that when it's chilly outside, wool is the only thing I want to wear. It's not overly hot - just cozy and comfortable. This shirt washes really well - cold water and low heat in the dryer. My husband wears his to work under his button down shirts since he says it's cool in his office. The fit seems to be true to size.

I typically wear a large, sometimes medium. Ordered a xl in this and it was still super tight and very long. Quality is superb, if you're on the trim side this is probably great. I've had better luck with icebreaker in terms of fit.

Got this layer shirt for my husband-- he'd been layering for winter with silk and other wool tops. This is by far the most comfortable he owns; it's soft, pliable, tightly knit, and warm. He's been wearing it almost daily. I'm afraid he'll wear it out! If he does, we're sure to get another. These garments wash in the machine and drip dry-- a good thing seeing as he's wearing it so constantly. I'd been put off by the relatively high price of Smartwool, but Sierra Trading let me indulge at a sale price. I have one of these tops, too, in an XS dark heather navy blue (and also the matching pants), and I wear it under everything in cold weather-- and on its own, because it's good looking. The hard-to-find extra small actually fits like an extra small, no bagging and gapping. They're long enough to tuck in our out and the sleeves are a good length-- too many tops, especially those made in China, for some reason are too short in the sleeve while often too wide in the body. I don't often wax enthusiastic about a product, but Smartwool has their finger on the pulse. If you want a winter layer and love washable wool, get one of these.

Bought the gray one for my husband and he likes it very much because it feels comfortable on your skin yet very warm. Great product and would definitely buy again.

Fits true size, comfortable. Great for those cooler day alone and works really well as a layer. Looks good enough for casual wear.

Super nice, doesn't itches, tight fit (of course, is a first layer), and very warm.
