Verified Buyer Reviewed by LHB from Texas on Wednesday, May 18, 2016And not for the better in my humble opinion. I have about 50 pair of Agaves in 33x35 (with a few in unconventional fabrics in 34x35). I like my jeans to stack a little so I do not shorten them. This was the last truly great pair I ordered.
Be forewarned however that if you are used to "vintage" Agave jeans you will now have to size up one waist size. The Gringos were sometimes a little on the tight side for me, but I often found the 33's to be perfect.
Now there is no question about it. If you are built like me you have to order 34's. I just got another pair of 34's and they were a bit tight and tapered too much at the bottom for Gringos. It's not me either. I was just in for my annual physical and I lost 5 pounds down to 190 lbs
They also used to have lots of cool funky details but now they are just straight ahead jeans. Quality jeans for sure but the unique funkiness is gone, hopefully not for good, although they are better than they were 2 years ago when they really hit a low point with the copper wire ornament in the Agave Tag on the rear of the jeans.
I still only buy Agave and I almost always buy them from Sierra Trading Post but you have to be more careful these days. I recommend that you size up 1 inch in the waist.
Still, they are great jeans with the perfect inseam length (35") especially if you like to wear them with cowboy boots. Sierra Trading Post has made a fortune off of my purchases of Agave jeans and I think I have only returned 2 pairs in the last 10 years, one of which I would pay full retail to buy back (what was I thinking???).
These Merced's are fantastic however. I wish Agave would stick to jeans and a few product styles like the Waterman and Gringo. Some change is not for the better, but if you can get a hold of a pair of this version buy as many as you can afford.
