I work in construction so I have to wear boots everyday. I bought these on a recommendation and I couldn't be more pleased. I thought they would make my feet too hot but was pleasantly surprised when the moisture was wicked away and I didn't have to pull them up once. I bought 6 more pair the next day!

If you want a medium weight sock to provide cushioning and volume, then these are not the socks you are looking for. The bottom of the foot, from the heel to the toe, is padded. This is the only portion of these socks that I would consider near medium or mid weight. The rest of the sock is no more substantial than a dress sock or liner sock. In some parts, especially on the top of the foot, it is almost sheer. I wear a size 12 boot and purchased the XL socks, which fit size 12 -14.5, so the sheerness of these socks is not from overstretching. Otherwise they seem well made, just not as advertised. Unfortunately, there are no standards for sock weight.

These socks are great for mid-weight warmth and padding, good for use in snow boots and western boots alike. Over the calf length keeps legs warm. Cushioned sole is great for a long day's work. They keep off the chill and regulate moisture well.

Will be keeping these - since price was good and they're ok - but what WAS a gift is now for me instead. Ordred L for my sweetheart (size 10 1/2 men's shoes) and they instead fit my ladie's size 8 1/2. Also - packaging says they fit 15" boots and online photo looks like they should - but 2 pair I got are actually like regular crew length instead. Measure 8" from top of foot line above heal to top of cuff - ribbed all the way. One of the 4 socks is slightly larger than the other 3 too - but should still be wearable. "Irregular" stamp may or may not wash out - not a problem for me - but good to know in advance. Bottom line - if you're happy with the price, mid-weight crew length socks are ok for your purpose, and you're not too fussy - order a size up (or maybe 2 sizes) and you'll be fine. Note: I ordered #14175 smartwool hunting socks at the same time for a couple bucks more (both kinds on sale) and they are 14"+ leg length - with more stretch - and much heavier. weight.
