Powder River Outfitters Northwestern Fleece Jacket (For Men)

Closeouts. Power River Outfitters' Northwestern fleece jacket holds its own very well in the cold weather thanks to its heavy-duty fleece construction. The soft, sherpa-like lining traps and holds heat, and the brushed exterior blocks wind and repels rain and snow.

This is the thickest and warmest fleece jacket I’ve ever seen. I have yet to put it to much use, but it appears well constructed.

Nice heavy-weight fleece jacket - size roomy enough for me (52 chest,36 hips: most jackets shoulders are too small). Good fit in length & sleeves as well (I also find many sleeves too short) and did not have the gigantic paunch so common in larger sizes. Fits a bit large in the body, likely could have worn 1x but this allows me the option of a sweater underneath -nice, 'cause it's 10 deg F today. Neck is good, not too small and not too tall. Pockets - zippered outer ones are big enough and have fleece on inside, nylon lining on the outside under the shell. Upper vertical pocket is small, might fit headphones or a flip-phone but not an i7 (iPod fits, just). Large bucket-pockets inside separated from outside pockets by nylon. Cuffs are jacket-style with a 6" split, no gusset but a nice overlap, the only real flaw.

I was really happy to pull the jacket out of the box. It looked great and the inner liner of fleece was really warm and comfortable. It fit well and looked good on. Then I had some problems. The fabric at the bottom of the jacket was bunched so tightly near the zipper that I could not draw the zipper up. I had to cut away fabric without damaging the stitching to get the zipper to open and close. It still does not move smoothly at the bottom. The second time I wore it the snap on the sleeve pulled through the hole. It has two snaps on each sleeve and the other three seem to be holding, but I am trying to figure out how to keep the snap from exiting the precut hole. I am not working in this jacket, it is in and out of the car and to and from the office so with such casual and careful wear I am surprised it came apart so quickly. Once I have that fixed I will have it on again, it is what I was looking for in a light weight jacket, but the quality of the construction has me disappointed. It is my first purchase of a Powder River product so I do not have any other purchase to compare with.

Returned this jacket, as it appears to been tailored and sewn by a water buffalo in a space suit. Imagine wearing a semi tailored jacket that fits well enough in length and waist and ok in the chest area. Now further imagine this jacket needed to accommodate football shoulder pads. I think this adequately describes the fit of this jacket. I am, of course, disappointed and further even more sullen about the reminder that I don’t have Captain America’s physique, who is possibly the only one who could wear this jacket without too much ridicule.

This could have been a very nice jacket, but not everything was finished, the inside pockets were not securely sown to the jacket, the upper sleeves were oddly shaped, so I returned it.
