Montrail Caldorado Trail Running Shoes (For Women)

Closeouts. When running on tricky terrain, you need support and rigidity with a healthy dose of cushioning to lessen the impact of the trail. The Montrail Caldorado trail running shoes have all of that, thanks to a thermoplastic midfoot frame in the upper and a FluidFoam midsole that disperses impact. They also have a full rubber TrailShield outsole with forefoot flex grooves to push debris out of the sole and to keep you on the run.

I love the red/orange color of these shoes. They were really comfortable right out of the box!

This shoe has a firmly cushioned midsole that protects the feet on rocky, rugged trails. The upper is well built and resistent to tears and snags. The traction has proved true on wet rocks and icy trails. As solid as the shoe feels, it still gives a comfortable, natural feeling ride. Yes, the color is a bit alarming, but I love these shoes!

I bought these shoes for ONE purpose, because they were "RED" and would be perfect to wear to IOWA STATE games. They are NOT "red" - they are BRIGHT O-R-A-N-G-E!!!!!! SOOOOO IRRITATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This happens with MANY STP items...WHY can't the colors just be RIIIIIIIIIIIGHT?!!!!!!

I have a "low volume" foot with a narrow heel but need a shoe with good width in the toe box for my local 10 mile steep uphil/steep downhill hike. After many blisters and $ spent on best recommendations from very good hiking stores,I said hey, what can I lose for $39? Hiking perfection! Solid fit in the heel and no sliding forward in the toe box on my descents.I bought 2 more pair-these shoes are perfect for me.Lightweight and solid grippy sole.

I wanted to love these since I need to replace my old, and dearly loved Montrails. The problem is the way the tongue is sewn onto the shoe at the base of the laces. The bulkiness there is uncomfortable across the top of my foot at the base of my toes. Sadly, they are going back.

When I first put them on, I thought that they were a bit too clunky. Then- I started walking around in them and you would not believe the smile on my face! They fit like a glove. They cradle my feet, no slippage in the heels no matter how uneven the terrain. I wore them everyday on a 8 day trip to Costa Rica where I was walking at least 5-7 mi. a day on the very hilly and rocky roads and trails. The shoes were the most comfortable shoes I have had in years!
I just ordered 2 more pair!

Montrails make changes so quickly that I left them for awhile. The Caldorado caught my eye and I gave it a try. I wore them right out of the box on a slippy, pouring down rain trail run for about 5 miles. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they handled and the bit of cushion I felt going over the rocks. My Heels hurt after this run but honestly, I need to give them more time for the 'break-in period' as I've been in New Balance Leadvilles and they are super cushiony. A 2 hour trail run yesterday and I'm still very impressed. They don't slip up & down on the back of the ankle like their sister, the Masochist - which used to be my fav until they made 'changes'. I hope they keep this design for a while. I'm an ultra-runner and I got these to replace my Masochist ~ so far, so good!
