Comfortable functional and nice looking, in that order. I wear an 8 1/2 and sized up to 9. Probably didn’t need to, but now there’s plenty of room for extra socks if needed.

these boots were way to "meh" to keep. They felt poorly made and were stiff. Not at all what I had hoped for when ordering a boot to keep my feet warm in the Ohio snow belt.
Perfect for climates that get chilly with not a lot of snowfall, as they ARE CUTE.

I just received my Merrell dark earth boots last week. They are an excellent buy and I am so pleased.

The color is true to the photo here. I had seen some dark earth on other sites that had a reddish tone. These are the color in photo, and I love it.

I read the specifications, and it said calf was 14 1/4 cm wide. That is spot on. I ordered a size 7, and that is exactly what the calf circumference measures. They have flex points that would allow them a little more give, but not much. I am 5’5 and 135 pounds. They fit my calves perfect. Although outside of snug tights or skinny jeans, there is not enough room for me to tuck anything. But I don’t wear skinny jeans, so they are perfect for my tights and leggings.

Lots of reviews mentioned ankles. I understand the claim they are a bit big, but this seems the norm for higher boots. It is sort of inevitable. And I don’t find them so large that they are uncomfortable or bothersome at all.

The insulation/waterproofing is awesome. And I love the front zipper. I have found no problems zipping them. In fact, they make the boot super easy to get on and off.

Finally, they are super stylish and practical, which I love. I don’t care how good something looks, if it’s not practical, I won’t own it. These are the perfect combination of both. And Merrell is always dependable.

So happy with these boots. Comfy and warm and dry. Fit is a tad wide, but perfect to wear with wool socks for winter. Excellent choice for winter walking.

Love these boots but the the elastic around the zipper streaches out easy. The front zipper was weird at first but is so nice for getting your jeans tucked in that I can't imagine going back!

i read all the other reviews and do have some agreement with other buyers' comments.... the toe box is a bit smaller than i like but i don't wear these boots with heavy socks so it's fine - and they are surprisingly warm without. they are a little stiff as are the zippers. however, as slightly inconvenient as the zippers might be, they are GOOD ones and i've recently learned about cheap easy zipper slides the hard way.! the stiffness of the uppers actually does seem to have eased up after wearing. most importantly, they are comfortable to walk distances and wear all day -- i wore these to the women's march in washington and probably walked at least 15 miles when all was said and done, and at the end of a VERY long day, my feet felt fine. i think these boots will hold up for many many years of wearing, and still look great.

These are really what I was looking for, a nice casual boot that I could wear everyday but would hold up in the snow and salt. They are sturdy and warm but not too bulky. Comfortable, good grip, well made.

I really wished these boots would have worked for me. 2 stars overall rating: 5 stars for fashion, 1 star for warmth (although they kept me dry, they were not warm enough for Boston winters), 2 stars for comfort (driving and kneeling down in these is NOT comfortable because they are pretty stiff), 1 star for ease of putting them on (not the easiest to zip if you've got boot socks on). I'm going to try to look into returning these.
