Foot area is exceptionally good but ankle area cut into my ankles badly. Had to cut away original top eyelets for laces (about 1/2 inch on inside and outside) and have shoemaker put new eyelet under top loop. Now fits fine, but someone goofed when then designed this with such inflexible area around top eyelets and cut the whole thing too high.

These were a Christmas gift to my son in law. He put them on and said "I guess I have been hiking on socks!"

Got these for my husband for our daily dog walks. He likes the fit and comfort of the shoes. Can't give 5 stars as he has had them long enough to know long term comfort & water proof.
Ahnu boots & shoes are what my orthopedic doc recommends, so far we are really happy with the quality of our other Ahnu foot wear.

These are comfortable right out of the box. And feel good to walk in. The sole is slippy on concrete but grippy off road. Lets see what a hundred miles does for them.

These are comfortable but let water in just from walking through dewy grass for a couple minutes. Otherwise, they seem well made.

I had not heard of Ahnu before, but on the strength of reviews that claimed this shoe was very comfortable right out of the box, and STP's usually great price, I ordered a pair. The size was exactly right in my usual length and width (8.5 M), and they feel great, easily accepting my orthotic inserts.! I've had great experience with the eVent fabric in a rain jacket, and I expect these shoes will be likewise waterproof and breathable. They do feel shock-absorbing, as advertised.

The shoe feels stiff, and a bit heavier than the so-called "approach" shoes I'm replacing with these, but a stiff sole is a good thing on the rough terrain that I often hike, and overall these Ahnu are still relatively lightweight. The lugs on the sole are quite aggressive, and should grip well on slippery surfaces. And I like the heel loop to help pull them on.

One niggling complaint: in the black/gray/red that I chose, the laces are thin, and so close in color to the body of the shoe that in dim light it's hard to sort out the lace loops to quickly snug them up. I may add a slide lock--which I really like anyway--to the laces for ease of snugging to my foot.

Wore them today for the first time during our daily 2.5-mile walk. Wonderful! Highly recommended.

Wanted different color and half size larger but not available. Took a chance on size 10 closeouts and they fit perfectly (some manufacturers make 10's to small). This brand is well made and very comfortable; waterproofness not yet tested.

Love my other Ahnu shoes, but these have caused extreme rub spots on each ankle on the inner side due to the stiffness of the shoe near the lace. I have to leave laces loose just to bear the discomfort. Hoping that the ankles will adjust to the shoe because I don't think the shoe will wear. Have had for 3 weeks and they are a lot better than when new. Ankles are less some skin but getting tough!

I bought two pairs of hiking shoes for my husband to choose from and he picked these (the other pair were solomons- equally comfy but he preferred the Ahnu style). Ahnu tends to be a bit snug on my husband who is normally a 10.5. I ordered an 11 and they fit perfectly.
