Verified Buyer Reviewed by Andrea from Tampa on Thursday, September 21, 2017I bought this same brand previously in a different style so I chose the same size, but they were way too tight. The back of the shoe pressed very hard into my Achilles and I couldn't wear them- I have down graded to a less aggressive shoe.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by New climber from Salem, OR on Thursday, June 15, 2017I've only worn them in the kitchen so far. I wear a women's 7.5 (or 38) in normal shoes. In these, a 8.5 is probably right (hurts a little all the way around). These have a stiff sole that makes my feet feel supported (less stress on my big toe joint), and are wide enough for my wide fee.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Legend from Los Angeles on Monday, June 5, 2017These shoes are really great. They run a little small, however, they have really grippy rubber and fit well. A well made functional shoe.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Zoe33 from Utah on Friday, May 19, 2017These are my first climbing shoes that I have purchased. They are definitely a step up from the shoes you can rent from the indoor climbing shoes. They are very tight but work great!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Brady from Idaho on Tuesday, March 21, 2017Unless you are very familiar with aggressive climbing shoes and like having your feet hurt after 10 minutes in your shoes, SIZE UP from your street shoe size.
I wear 7.5 to 8 in Vans, I sized these up to 9.5 to get a fit that I could wear for about 30-40 minutes before I feel like I want to give my feet a break. I also wear 7.5 in Tarantulas for a comfortable, all day kind of fit, if that helps give an idea of where I'm at.
As these are lace-ups, you will probably not want to have to take them off every 10 minutes; if you're looking for that get shoes with Velcro straps.
These shoes have synthetic uppers so don't expect much, if any, stretching.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MF from Texas on Saturday, February 11, 2017I wear a women's size 11 in street shoes, and tried these in a size 10 (i.e. went up half a size). The velcro makes it easy to put on, and the heel shape fit nicely (not too high), but they were far to short and cramped in the front. They made my toes not just curl, but overlap each other. Had to return, but I would try a larger size.
Reviewed by smlucas from CA on Monday, January 30, 2017In a street shoe I wear a 10-10.5.
My Luchadors are 11s. Pretty irregular for my climbing shoe to be a size larger but I bought these for multi-pitch comfort or a non-stop gym training, so I intentionally went a little bigger and less brutally tight then I do with a more aggressive shoe. So far it's worked out and I find them very comfortable: nice mellow action but still snug enough to make fairly technical foot placements.
If I'm cranking on a sport pitch, the shamans go on. But these have been great for prolonged wear. And at this price you can't beat it with a stick. I love Evolv, their rubber and lasts have treated me well for years.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by web from OK on Tuesday, December 20, 2016these are good all around shoes. i find them more comfy than the velcro muira, but at a similar level in terms of agressiveness.
Sizing: i went up a half size from street size. My toes have a curl, but not extreme like they do in the shaman or solutions.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Sam from San francisco on Thursday, November 3, 2016Would size to your street shoe. This is evolv's version of anasazi lace or katana lace. Nice padded lining on the inside makes for good comfort. Will be a good trad shoe or face climbing shoe. At 60$ they are a steal. I use them as my gym shoe and trad shoe. Does not stretch much. Like all evolv shoes they start to stink horribly with daily use. They are much less ugly once covered in chalk.
Reviewed by Midwest Seth from IL on Monday, August 1, 2016These are great shoes. I've tried on tons of brands and models in my search for a shoe I can leave on between pitches and most of them irritate my achilles or have dead space that causes my foot to slip around. The Luchadors are amazingly comfortable right out of the box and have performed very well on tiny edges. They feel similar to a Katana Lace in the forefoot but are snugger in the back with a lower profile heel cup. I normally wear a size 9 street shoe and 8.5 in 5.10s. I can squeeze into a 9.5 in these but I would have to take them off after every pitch. The 10 fits nice and tight with a slightly curled big toe but I can leave them on for hours.
