Reviewed by Rudi's Human from SF Bay Area, CA on Wednesday, October 19, 2016Bought as a gift so havent tried it out myself. Yet - I have to have one too now that I've seen it in person. VERY impressed. I was pleasantly surprised at the weight and sturdiness of this pot when it arrived (well packed too!) Very atrtractive to look at as well. Feels as heavy as a cast iron pot, but not unweildy with the sturdy handle and the spoout on one side and an exaggerated lip at the other to help pour, It is carbon steel covered in a very nice brick-red enamel on the outside. Inside and over the lip it is a black enamel with many graduated markings along the inside so you can tell how many quarts you have. I've never seen anything like this in stores and was a little shocked at the MSRP, but at STP affordable prices, it is well worth the expenditure - if you do any canning at all, you know how hard it can be to get the jam or chutney, etc to evaporate yet keep a steady temp till it's the right consistency. I'm sure this will do the job both at its size (2 gallon capacity!) and its sturdiness. Well worth the cost, I'm sure. Can't wait for my own to come and try it out in practice.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Del from Miami Springs on Monday, August 22, 2016I've been looking for a pot like this for years. It is fantastic for the home canner - I've been using other enamelware but this is the finest jam pan I've used. Don't let the slightly higher price out you off. This is and incredible pot - allows better evaporation and also leths you control the boil quickly is the preserves "foam up".
