Shipping was prompt. Fit was true to size for me. As others have stated, they felt a little stiff out of the box but they proved to be extremely comfortable and supportive when I wore them around during my regular daily routine for a couple of days. The first big test was a six mile hike over rocky terrain. There were no problems with rubbing or break-in. 100% waterproof. Traction was excellent. The most comfortable boot I have ever worn on a first hike.

The boots seemed to be great quality, with good features adn that they would be comfortable. I typically wear a size 10.5 - 11. I ordered these in a size 11.5 since hiking boots can run on the small side. The left boot fit perfect and was great but the right boot was very tight on my instep around the toe box. Was unsure if this was possibly a manufacturer defect or that the boots just fit snug. I ended up returning the boots as it was too uncomfortable to wear. I ordered a asolo in 11.5 w that I was able to try on at a local store so we shall see how that goes. The return process was very easy and if they had these in a wide 11.5 I would have ordered those or even tried the 12 but they were not in stock

First off I'd like to say that when I read reviews most are pointless because all they say is that the person loves or hates the product. The pertinent info like, I'm 6'2" 190 lbs. and I ordered a large but the medium fits much better, is hardly ever present. So here is the new and improved review of the Salomon Quest 4D 2 Gore-Tex Boots!!!
I ordered an 11.5D that is the size I wear in most all my footwear and especially Salomons. Size consistency is a huge reason I keep coming back to Salomon. I have several pair of their products and each and every one fits like a glove. And this pair was no exception, the fit and build quality is top notch. The 4D is a great footwear option if you're planning on carrying heavy loads OR you want an exceptionally stable boot with fantastic ankle support. These boots come up high enough that when laced properly they give super solid ankle roll protection. Remember these are Gore-tex lined so if you will be in wet weather they are perfect but depending on how well your feet sweat and what type of socks you use (I highly recommend wool) these may not be the best option for summer hiking. Just my humble opinion. My only complaint on this review is directed at Sierra Trading Post; they had in their pictures of the product two different versions of the color. It was misleading in terms of what I was getting. But the price was amazing, hard to find these boots at this price!!! Way to go STP!!!!!

As a long-time backpacker averaging 1500 to 2000 miles a year and long-time user of Asolo backpacking boots (Power Matics and 520 TPS), I wanted to try a lighter boot that still had sufficient rigidity to resist when I turned an ankle carrying a pack. These boots fit the description: 10 ounces (each) lighter than my Asolos but still have a strong midsole and supportive ankle cuff. Probably not as bulletproof on rocky terrain as the 2 mm. leather Asolos, but seems reasonable to trade some foot protection for a fair reduction in weight (and a gain in midsole flexibility.) Only have a few miles on them so far but enough to see that they require no break-in. And they cost nearly $200 less than new Power Matics, thanks to STP's enlightened pricing. Remains to be seen if I can get the 1500 miles or so that I typically get from a pair of Asolos, but at these prices, that's a minor concern.

Up one full size from dress shoes and they fit very nicely with heavy socks. At first they gave me a peculiar sense of being tilted forward, but got used to it quickly. Overall very supportive including ankles. Seem warm; we'll see in summer. Seem pretty good on rocky trail for running shoe type construction. Outsole is grippy but I wonder about it's durability; these are not a candidate for resoling.

These are the best rated hikking boot, and I couldn't believe the price sierra was selling them for. I Will definitely use them for more gear. These boots feel great right out of the box, and I'm sure will only get better with time.

Nice, light weight. Pretty stiff out of the box. L and R boot not fitting the same. At crease, R boot puts a lot of pressure on the top of foot. Seems like it's a design flaw with that side..I have been wearing them for about 1.5 weeks every day..I'm just going to wait and see it it softens up. Fits true to regular shoe size.

So far they have worn well. I haven't taken them out on a hike yet. I've been wearing them around to break them in first. They come pretty firm, so make sure to wear them a lot to break in before hitting the trail. Very comfortable though.
