Hoka One One Challenger ATR 2 Trail Running Shoes (For Men)

Closeouts. Shoes for all surfaces, Hoka One One's Challenger ATR 2 trail running shoes offer the cushioning and support you expect from Hoka One One... but adapted for all-terrain running. The podular outsole design joins with 4mm outsole lugs for increased stability and traction on dodgy surfaces, and each shoe provides midsole cushioning 2.5 times the volume of standard shoes to lessen the trail impact and keep you moving.

Loved wearing my new Hoka One One. These are very comfortable but were completely destroyed after using them for only 275 miles. They felt good while hiking and running on the Camino Portuguese de Santiago and on northern California trails. But they started coming apart after a few days' wear. The mesh tops are tearing up from regular use (and I purchased a size larger than my normal size!), the treads wore out rapidly, and the mesh top continues to deteriorate. So from my experience, my Hoka One One really should be renamed Hoka Zero Zero! I will not buy these shoes ever again.

This is my 2nd pair of Hoka 1 in a different color theme, but it seems to be a bit snug in the toe box on the right foot in a size 9 mens. The previous pair I bought a couple of months ago was perfect. As for the heel and cushioning, it's been a relief for my plantar fascitiis as long as I also have a half insert included. Over all, if someone needs superb cushioning and pain relief, this is the shoe for you.

I no longer run, but have plantar faciitis so the extra soft insole eliminates any pain. The design of the insole gives amazing stability considering how cushiony the shoes are. I have several pairs. BTW, the Sierra Online graphic about lacing eliminated a painful problem in my little to.

These have good stability on trail runs with plenty of cushion. The insoles are a big improvement over the paper thin ones that came in the previous model. If these had a bit more arch support they would be 5 stars.

overall, the quality of the shoe is great. The lugs provide good traction on wet grass, dirt, and gravel, and they are short enough that they work okay on pavement too. What led me to rate them only two stars is the uneven fit. The left shoe is fine, but the right shoe is too narrow. I have not experienced this with any other shoes, so I don't think it's just me! With average running socks, the right shoe is uncomfortable. I have found that ultra thin socks help. So far, I have put about 30 miles on these shoes, and will probably keep wearing them (with thin socks), but I would not purchase them again.

I am a woman with wide feet, so I decided to try these. They fit great, and super-comfortable, and the traction on trails feels like you are glued to the ground, even on ice and snow!
