The pack is roomy, has a squarish shape and good internal pockets for organizing. However it does not have a hip/waist strap and I think for hiking it would be less than ideal.

I bought this to have a pack for mountain biking, camping, hiking, etc. A few days after it arrived, I packed it up for an overnight with my ten year old son. We camped overnight and then hit the mountain bike trail the next morning. For our ride, I packed it with our lunch, some water, etc. Midway through the ride I wrecked and rolled off my bike and onto my back. The pack held up great with only a few minor scuffs that rubbed out. All in all, you can tell this pack is well-made and the occasional spill isn't enough to tear it up.
I am an architect, so I also look forward to using the pack with my laptop and files for work.
Work or play, this is a great pack for the money!

I was excited to find such a nice back pack, I use it to carry a feeding tube and pump that I wear all day. It was perfect. I did my research and liked the reviews. I purchased it with The Sierra Trading Post in Boise Idaho. They had some computer errors and I was sent an email that my payment did not go through, I called customer service where some very helpful ladies tried again to put the payment through, their system failed and the solution to that was, I was asked to purchase a gift card to cover the purchase and it would go through. I felt like I had been somewhat accommodating. After a few days of using it I noticed that the top zipper had a difficult time going around the corners. I quit using it and headed to the store the following week to return it where I discovered that since I had used it ( at all) that they would not return it. I have been a good customer of Sierra Trading post, but find that I will be shopping somewhere I can count on being able to return merchandise that isn't functioning properly.

Just took on trip to Disney. Held everything we needed to get through the day. only issue was that it doesn't allow as much cool air between shoulder blades like other backpacks I have do. It was 80-85 degrees F each day, so back stayed hot. Overall, very comfortable, sturdy and useful.

Quality bag, good size. I love the green color! Not five stars though since straps are wide without much padding. The straps also do not adjust very small. I think overall this backpack would better fit a male body.
