We purchased two of these for a four day trip which included airline travel. They are good size for this type of trip, the lap top pocket is convenient when going through airport security and the handle on the top of the pack is useful for grabbing and stashing the pack in overhead storage. We did a lot of urban hiking in San Diego and the packs were comfortable. The quality of the pack seems good so far.

I looked at Mountain Hardware bag in part because it's not the dominant brand and this bag would be set apart on Campus rather uniquely due to its design and color. I also bought it given I know the brand is very good historically. The bag is well made and exactly what we wanted. The padded computer slot is just barely able to fit a 15" MacBook Pro. But it fits nice and snug.

This backpack is exactly what I was hoping for. Basically a sturdy, well-made day pack that can serve for light hiking and/or airline/general travel. I needed something for my upcoming 5-week trip to China. Fits far more than a standard school backpack with additional organizing pockets and adjustable straps, but is not so oversized that it is cumbersome/weighty for airline travel.

It DOES fit my Macbook Pro 15" (2015) WITH it's hard case. It's just a tight squeeze through the zipper opening and you have to finegal it into place, but once you've got the opening right, the whole thing slides right through. There's actually additional inch or space in the pocket once the computer is inside.

There are two main access points into the pack, and I like that the outer/upper one has an interior mesh pocket to potentially hold snacks or a sandwich or other easily accessible essentials. Side pocket JUST barely fits my 64 oz Kleen Kanteen, but it does go in. Nice assortment of interior pockets so that things are well-organized and easy to find. I also got a memory foam neck pillow for my 15 hour flight and that fits inside with plenty of room for a sweatshirt, notebook, and other items without hogging all of the space.

I got Python green color which is fun and not too bright yet easily identifiable.

The size is great and because it is Mountain Hardwear it trims and carries well! They did not overdue the inside pockets, they have done it just right! Easy access to things and a light color inside help you locate everything easily!

This pack is beautifully designed. Nice pockets, sturdy straps and zippers, emergency whistle on the sternum strap, and good padding on both sides of the computer pouch that goes against your back. Only problem, and it is a BIG PROBLEM!, is that it doesn't fit my HP laptop. I guess technically it is a 15.6 inch computer like the other laptops that are sold as 15" machines. There is room in the laptop pouch for the computer, but the zipper is about an inch too short so you can't slide it in. The zipper itself opens 14.5 inches and so it jut won't work for my laptop which is 15.25 on the longer side. Darn. I was really excited for this bag.

Bought this for a college student. He likes how roomy it is with a convenient built-in computer sleeve.
