This is a great buy. Wish extra spools were available. That is the only downside.

I have used an inexpensive Cabela's Wind River fly rod and Okuma Sierra die-cast reel for years, and it has served me well. When I broke my rod tip while hiking up the wrong side of the creek to Dude Lake last summer, I decided it was finally time for an upgrade. I purchased both the 6wt Redington Voyant fly rod and this Rise II fly reel in a 5/6wt, and couldn't be happier. Not being a highly nuanced fly fisherman, I enjoy the fast action rod for sending my flies out to a respectable distance, even in the wind. I spooled up some Rio In Touch Grand front loaded line on top of 100 yd of 20# dacron backing and it fit the reel perfectly. The drag seems a little wimpy, but most of the fish I catch are in the 12-20" range, so not a big deal most of the time. Top it off with the Redington warranty, and your golden. Hope this helps!

I have bought several Redington reels over the years and all have performed well with no problems, I bought this for a new 10' 6wt G.Loomis Pro4x and it looks great with it, the balance is nice. My other reels have the similar disc drag and they work very smoothly plus finding a 6wt on sale was a bonus for spare rods. For the abuse my reels get, these have held up very well, a few nicks but they still work great.

I think STP has it priced about right, original retail was too high. Great trout reel, drag is just OK. Clicker was too loud both in and out, so I removed it. Now reel is silent. Better.

I've only had 1 chance to use this reel but it was enough to be impressed by the quality construction. The drag is nice and smooth and while I didn't catch any big bruisers I am confident it would do very well.

This is a great real. It proves that you don't have to drop a small fortune to have a well-made reel to match your quality rod. It's a great value overall. I've had this reel and have been happy fishing with it for many years. Just bought myself a second one to use on other rods.

I am very happy with this reel. It feels smooth, I can't wait to get it out on the river with it in full operation. Good quality for the price.
