Woolrich Pioneer Wool-Insulated Vest (For Women)
Closeouts. Perfect as a second layer over a flannel shirt or sweater, the Woolrich Pioneer wool-insulated vest marries the time-tested properties of wool with the proven performance of modern synthetics. Between two layers of smooth, water-repellent ripstop fabric, toasty pockets of wool-blend insulation keep you downright cozy through the coolest months of winter.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by NoDulGal from Southern Arizona on Tuesday, March 21, 2017I bought this for a warm, wind-reducing vest that would keep warm in a drizzle, unlike down. I love the vest and the idea, but there are 2 negatives that bring the rating down. First, there's not much wool stuffing in the vest. There is also very little overlap at the front snaps. These make it OK for a cool day but not enough for a truly cold day. Second, there is a large, generous inside pocket BUT it is so wide that it falls open. If you put a big thing in it, like a map, you may lose it. It needs a Velcro tab on the top middle of the pocket. These may be trivial to you if you don't live in a very cold place or don't carry the size stuff that would go in the pocket. It is true to size, the color is lovely and it has nice tailoring touches.I did keep this vest and have worn it several times already.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jean the Viking from California on Monday, March 13, 2017I bought the first for my trip to Iceland and Norway in February. In Iceland I just wore long sleeve shirt and the vest and was plenty warm. In Norway it snowed almost everyday so I wore the vest under a micro fleece jacket and was warm during the day, even when the snow covered the jacket.
It isn't bulky like a lot of down vests are. The deep pockets are perfect for keeping hands warm, storing knit cap, gloves, scarves... There is even pocket inside to carry passport, wallet, whatever. Got so I didn't need my backpack, everything I needed was in the pockets.
Since I live in Northern Ca, we get below freezing at times and snow sometimes. So this was something I could use often, not just traveling during winter. I bought the second one to have on hand because what usually happens is I find something I really like and then it gets discontinued. Plus, the price for two was less than I would have paid for one down one.
Am very pleased with this purchase!

Verified Buyer Reviewed by City Girl from California on Tuesday, January 17, 2017I usually wear a large ... and this large is a good fit. (Size comparable to an old standard Woolrich Large.)
It's a great non-bulky layer that will be great for several California seasons. (Probably would be a bit too thin for outdoor mountain snow hiking ... unless you layered it up).
Really like the return of the classic outdoor vest features ... of rip-stop fabric ... a snap closure ... and a collar that doesn't choke out your neck, and a longer cut for the back.
This vest will get worn a lot.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Winter Camper from Montana on Saturday, December 17, 2016When I first received this vest, I thought it was a little too lightweight. Then, I wore it over a light blouse, along with a jacket...way too hot! (This was in windy, below zero weather). The description is accurate. Wear it over a sweater, or heavier shirt. The lightweight fabric and compressibility of this vest is deceiving. If you're looking for a "toasty" vest, you've found it. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Carolyn the Furniture Upholsterer from Oregon on Friday, December 9, 2016I got a size small and it fit me comfortably. I can even wear sweaters under it. I'm 5'5" and 130 pounds. The added warmth is perfect for the winter weather.
