I usually wear a Petite Small, but I decided to size up after reading the reviews. I am glad I did. I am 5ft 115lbs and the Medium fits nicely. Arms may be a little tight if you plan to wear this over a sweater.
Overall this jacket is lightweight and soft. Good for traveling.

But this jacket runs very small. Who are these made for anyhow? Maybe they were trying to conserve fabric.

This is the 'mid layer' in La Sportiva's line. I have the down outer layer and the fleece under layer in this series. I am 5'7", 145 and the Medium size for both of those layers fits perfectly. However, a medium in this particular item (the primaloft hoodie) is TINY. Too short and VERY tight. Unless my item was mismarked, I would recommend anyone in the "medium" size range to order up to a Large for this item even if you normally wear a La Sportiva Medium.

Otherwise, it is a fine mid-layer (with a fluffy/quilted middle and fleece arms). However, I don't see it being any more useful than their performance fleece layer (it is more constrictive).

This jacket is so cute. I wear it as a mid layer alpine skiing, and think it will also be perfect for Nordic skiing as the jacket. I love how the zipper brings the collar high and tight on the neck. The chest pocket is a must for me.

What I nice, well-made jacket. But the brand does run small, an Italian company that likely expects us all to be looking like an underfed Milan model rather than a real gal, complete with jelly roll love handles and two kids.
This is my second La Sportiva jacket and I must say they are fantastic quality. The inner pockets are great, as are the zippered outter pockets (and heavy zippers)! The hood is wonderful and insulated, and I love how it zips over the chin to give wind coverage when the hood is on. And the jacket is the perfect thickness for layering under a waterproof shell. I love having the thumb loops on the cuff to keep the jacket in place and my hands warm.
I am 5'2" tall, 110 pounds and usually wear a size small, (size 2 pants for hip reference). I ordered this in a small and also a medium to find my perfect fit.
What I found is this: the size small is form fitting on me when tried it on with a medium-weight thermal shirt underneath, and a bit tight across the shoulders when I stretch my arms out in front of me (such as for skinning or cross country skiing) and the back is tight when I bend over (such as for dealing with my boots). Also, the elastic around the bottom is a snug (but not tight) fit on the hips. If I were going running or hiking in this and planed to wear a very light shirt underneath, and running tights or other form fitting pants, the small would be perfect. It stretches well in all directions, but just not enough to have a decent layer underneath.
The size medium allows me a more thermal type layer underneath without feeling stuffed into the jacket; plenty of movement in the arms which is important for planting those poles if I am out skiing, and the bottom elastic fits perfectly over everything.
