Reviewed by Alicia du Nord from Minneapolis, MN on Monday, February 19, 2018There are instances in life where you may want to show some skin -- going to the club? Sure, show some skin. Getting weighed at the doctor's office? The less clothing the better.
But these mittens always require some skin to show, even if you've got the flap pulled over your fingers. The build was NOT thought out well.
I'm a Minnesotan and these mittens are generally not warm enough for our winters. I'm using them as "driving mittens" since they aren't fleece-lined or anything. They're just a layer of thick acrylic yarn. But, I expected that when I was purchasing and they're thicker than the cheapy gloves I had in my pockets previously.
These mittens are really only useful with the flap pulled back so your fingers are showing. That way, you can use your phone or type on your computer or whatever else. However, when you pull the flap over your fingers to attempt to keep your hands warm, there is a weird gap at the fold and your skin on the palm of your hand will show. So, it's basically impossible to fully cover your hands. Not great when I'm trying to scrape ice off my windshield at 0 degrees.
Most flap mittens utilize more fabric such that there is not a gap when you pull the mitten over your fingertips.
Further, I think that these are really built for slender hands. I do have slender hands so they work for me, but the wrist could get pretty tight on someone who doesn't have small wrists like I do.
Redeeming quality: The yarn is really pretty and soft. I got the Wildberry color, which looks to be sold out as I am writing this review.
If you have REALLY long, skinny hands and you never need a full mitten, these might be your jam. But, for everyone else, don't bother.
