My husband owned a pair of these first gen instinct laces when they first came out sometime in 2010. He has the usual wider profile male feet and found other shoe brands to be uncomfortable. He climbed in these outdoors on lime, granite, slate- you name it, it crused it. It is great for bouldering and the laces help dial in the fit for performance or comfort. I only climbed in 5.10s before he sold me on getting these babies, which I got on close-out a year ago. They fit true to size and I ordered these in a 37 which I usually am on Scarpas ( I own the Vapor-Vs prior to these). I am a 7 1/2-8 street shoe and wear a 6.5 on the Anasazi LVs, and a 36.5 on the men's Solutions among other shoes. I always thought I had low volume feet and managed to just smash my feet into the tiniest shoes in order to get the performance benefits. However, with these-- ordering only a half size smaller I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the shoes fit on the forefoot. It sticks to the smallest chips without sacrificing sensitivity and the vibram xs grip is durable and sticky! I considered getting the updated Instict Laces or the VCS but the sizing felt different as well as the materials. These handmade, leather hide shoes feel so much more premium to me! I am buying as many of these as I can before they're all gone! I wish Sierra still had them in my size-- 37 pretty pluuueeeeseee!!!! -- and oh, btw-these are NOT WOMEN SPECIFIC SHOES- if anything they are more unisex shoes. I don't know why Sierra insists in marketing these men's rock shoes as women's shoes- duh?
