Reviewed by paikinho from Michigan on Friday, November 15, 2013I am happy I got a 170 even though what I purchased 157 was offered by Derailed since that was the only size offered..
I bought this for my daughter so she could carry her and her brothers gear out west this holiday season.
I thought the 157 would be perfect for her over the long term, easier to manage, and so I went ahead and ordered the 157.
This larger 170 will hold even more gear so it is a bonus for me. I am glad I was mistakenly given the bigger bag.
Each of the pockets holds a pair of kids boots. Socks and gloves get stuffed into the boots. I even managed to stuff a coat in the top pocket. Turtle furs, hats, and gloves stuff in the pockets as well. Another coat and 2 snow pants for both kids stuff easily in the main compartment. I think I still have a bit of stuffing room with the 2 snowboards, but it is getting tight.
*** Only things I couldn't get in their were the goggles and Helmets. I am pretty sure if I removed the bindings from one of the boards they would lay nice and flat and I could get the helmets and goggles in as well. I will try that later.
Only problem is that their small snowboards leave a hinge in the middle of the bag. I have their bindings folded down, and have left them attached to the board. I may have to swap out my sons board and put their older sisters longer skis in the bag to stiffen up the center and put my son's board in my Burton Wheelie Gig bag 169 with my board. Anyhow… it is nice that 2 of these bags will basically fit everything I and 3 kids will need for outdoor adventure. Then we can just take small carryon backpacks for the rest of what we will use on the trip.
