I was actually looking for more of a shell so I returned it. It was pretty but too warm for my needs

I bought this mostly for biking and rainy days as a replacement for an old Marmot shell that had become worn out and covered in bike grease. This is nicely made, warm and keeps me totally dry. I'm a little disappointed by the extent of the tight fit. I'm 5'8" and around 135lbs. I wear a medium in just about everything, including my older Marmot. I bought this is a medium and though it fits, the cut makes it feel constricting. Because of this, the rain coverage is minimal. It's fairly short, so there's no protection below the waist. Unlike my old jacket, this is not longer in the back and so doesn't protect your rump when you sit or bike. Though the sleeves go to my wrist, if I stretch my arms (i.e., reach out to the handlebars on my bike), the sleeves ride up a little. I was on the fence about whether to keep it or return. I decided to keep because I just couldn't find anything else in this price range that wasn't too light weight. I'm glad I did keep it, and I do like it, I just wish it were a little longer at the bottom and in the sleeves. I also wish their were one more inside pocket (this has two outside and one inside). If you're accustomed to a short, slim fit, you'll probably love this. I think it might just take me some to to get used to, as it's a different fit from the once I'm replacing. The cut, however, keeps me from giving it a full 5 stars.

Very well made and attractive shell jacket. With a zippin layer this jacket would take you through very cold/wet weather. I ordered the Large and found the shoulders way too snug, so I returned it.

I'm 5'4" and weigh 115, chose a Medium for extra layering room and a little extra length. Good in the downpours we've been having in the Pacific Northwest. Fits comfortably over a hooded down jacket; the rain hood is easy to adjust and keeps water off my face. One minor disappointment: I prefer a 2-way front zipper. All the zippers and front placket are good at keeping water out. I expect to keep wearing this for many seasons.

Jacket in dark raspberry is pretty and rich color (neither bright nor muted, looks nice with bluish skin tones, probably others); hood covers sides and top of face well and can be tightened adequately if not extremely windy; comfy soft lining for outer zip pockets; nice zip chest inner pocket; sleeve width comfy for wearing down coat underneath but not excessively wide; XS sleeves (54") and neck (3-1/2") good for someone with long arms and neck (yay!); pit zips open easily; back length (neckbone to bottom of coat) 26-1/2" covers hips and you can tighten bottom cord to keep underlayer (if you're wearing a fleece or down coat) covered during rain. I'm only returning as I found a lightweight more packable coat for backpacking. XS fits 5'3" 110lb well with down coat or fleece underneath. Coat has zip for zipping in a Marmot fleece but one doesn't come with it.

This was a gift for my wife and a perfect score. The off-white (grey) color was a hit, as was the fit and performance. Not a single complaint!

Fits true to size(medium for 5'3", 130 with muscles and wide shoulders-if it wasn't for my shoulders and arms I could probably fit in a small but I dislike any tightness in my clothes that are meant for moving in), gorgeous color(gator) and keeps me dry even in a down pour. Festival season is upon us and I am ready to watch bluegrass even as it rains!

I bought my first Palisades jacket about 10 years ago for working outside with my horses here in very wet Western Washington state. I've LOVED this jacket for riding, walking and doing everyday outdoor tasks. I wear the thing on almost every day. It's been very waterproof, breathable, adjustable, and has just met all my expectations. I recently bought a replacement through Sierra since I'm pretty much wearing the original one out and it's almost the same jacket as my original, very few changes. I expect to get the same great wear out of it and am so glad Marmot keeps making these. Sierra had a great end of season price which got me really snapping this jacket up.

I had a raincoat but it failed to make me want to be outside in the rain. This coat is much better - it is lined and therefore kept me warm, the zippers work well, the hood protects my head and the sleeves have Velcro so I can snug them tight. I am very satisfied with the fit but I ordered a Small and I think if you were trying to extend the wear into winter with a heavy sweater you might want to order one size up. (I am 5'3" and weigh about 115.) I wore the coat out on a boat in a glacier cruise and it made the outdoor time in the rain bearable. I have not tried washing it, but based on other Marmot coats we have, it should be good.
