Did a 14 mile rountrip with 4700 feet of elevation gain and these shorts kept me cool in the muggy, northeast heat. They wicked moisture very well. They fit comfortably, my waist is actually between 34 and 35 inches, but the 36 fit well. The drawstring/belt has a durable plastic clip and it is removable, but I like it while hiking. My pack tends to push down on any shorts or pants I wear. I give these 4 stars and I am buying another pair!

Very nice shorts. Very lightweight material great for the tropics. Easy to wash in sink and dry on balcony when traveling. Bought a third pair.

The hand pockets are just aren't deep enough. I'll need to modify these to have any sense of security that things don't fall out anytime I sit down. Otherwise nice fit, quick drying material.

Great shorts. I have a 35 inch waist so I usually order size 36 because of availability. Size 36 waist usually fits me but I normally need a belt to keep them up. The 36 in these fit great. I use my own belt because the belt that comes with it looks too much like a hiking belt. I love that Columbia offers a 12 inch inseam. I'm 6'1" and these fit perfectly, covering the knee but not looking too long. The only thing i'm not a huge fan of is the tabs that stick out on the back pockets. It's not a big deal, but I"m just not accustomed to that look. They have plenty of pockets and even a zipper pocket to hold a credit card or phone while on a ride at a theme park. The orange color (solar flare)is pretty bright, with hints of reddish tamoto. I was wondering if people would mention how orange I looked. I actually got lots of nice comments because I had a white Hollister shirt with an orange logo that matched the shorts. I live in sunny southern California where the summers are hot.

haven't used them yet, but overall the shorts look good. It is Columbia... one weird thing is that it is small in size. I am 30 and have Columbia shorts before. Not sure why these 30 shorts are tighter. Would recommend to order 1-2 sizes larger, at least for the relatively small sizes.

I have long legs and I like shopping at Sierra Trading Post because I can pick the inseam length, type of shorts, and manufacturer. I love the Columbia brand for a lot of clothing options. These shorts are just what I need for Florida weather and activities.

Very nice shorts made with Columbia quality. 34-inch waist is good for a 33-34 waisted person. The 10-inch length hits right above the knees and is perfect for those who want to be in style but not tripping over the leg bottoms. I'm 5' 9". There is no inner lining, which is fine. That's what they make underwear for. It also makes the shorts light-weight and quick drying. The pockets are just right. Someone mentioned they were to small to put anything in them. I found them quite adequate. On top of all the good things, they come with a nice removable web belt. These are advertised a boating shorts but are nice enough to be worn anywhere at anytime. I should buy another pair!
