Bought this for my husband as a birthday present - he loves it! Lots of zippers and pockets for all different sized items. I think there is even a padded laptop pocket. Planning to use this as a day pack for traveling.

This is my second Granite pack. I bought the first one in hopes that because of all the separate compartments it might make a good rock climbing pack. Well, it sure did! What I don't like about most climbing packs is that just about everything goes into one main compartment. This means having to dig through to find this or that. I hate that. With the Granite's eight compartments I'm able to keep things organized, separate, and easily accessible. I love it so much I bought a second one to have for my other climbing needs - one for soloing and one for sport/trad/top rope.

The downside, this pack is discontinued! I called Marmot to ask them to please bring it back, market it as a climbing pack and make a version that is a bit bigger to accommodate more gear. I hope they do. If so, and you're a climber, get one - or two!!!

I received this item with a rip in the zipped inside pouch upon receipt. It is a small rip but not worth returning for a replacement so for that reason alone this item gets 2 stars only. I like the backpack other than the one problem

Very good pack for the money. Tons of compartments and expansion space, seems very good quality for the price and will last me quite a while. I've only done day hikes with it so far but this pack can expand large enough to even put a sleeping back in there for an overnight trip. I live a mile from the Appalachian trail and there are shelters along it quite often so theres no need to carry a tent.
My only real complaint is although the back panel is cushioned it does not vent very well at all. Even on an easy 4 hour hike on a day with temps in the 50's my back was completely soaked with sweat. So I took 1 star off for that.

The pack is great! I bought it for school to carry all of my books and binders for the day because my messenger bag i was using could not hold everything and i was getting tired of walking out to my car several times a day. But this pack is able to hold everything for all 4 classes plus have room form graphing calculator, 32oz nalgene bottle, computer and cord, sunglasses, scrub pants, shoes, etc. And i still have room for more. Yes with all of that in my pack its heavy but it rides well. The 2 compression straps on each side help the ride. I also use them to secure my nalgene bottle because it is too large for the side zip pockets to close completely.
This pack could easily hold enough for an overnight trip. And maybe even a 2 maybe 3 night trip depending on the gear you need.

I have used this pack now on several 10-12 mile day hikes and find it meets all my needs. I can minimize the sides for smaller mileage hikes, when water and sunscreen is all that is called for, and enjoy the trip just as well. It is comfortable to wear, easy to organize with all the pocket options, and well-constructed. It doesn't hurt that is is also an attractive pack too.

I love this pack. When my husband and I travel, we each carry a daypack and a roll-aboard for long trips. This pack has a large number of small compartments ideal for compartmentalizing items, such as medicines, electronics chargers, and wallets/travel documents. Of course, it also has compartments large enough to accommodate iPads, modest laptops, and earphones for the airplane ride. I love the zippered compartments for water bottles ... no more chasing bottles that escape from side pouches and roll down the jetway or along the airplane floor. Happily, the fabric of this pack is heavier than I expected. The pack is very comfortable on my 5 foot frame, but can be adjusted for a tall person. My only wish-and-want is for a waist fastener.

    Highly recommended!

Great pack with ample space for day treks. Fit and form are exceptional. It is versatile in its potential applications. For the money, its a no-brainer.

Without a doubt this is the best pack back I have ever used for a day trip or an overnight trip. Lots of easily accessible pockets and pouches making finding "stuff" easy. Wears nicely on the shoulders and back. The padding for the iPad or computer works great. Zips seem to always work. I have had mine for 2 years now and just ordered a 2nd one just because I love the first one so much. Price is excellent.
