Closeouts. Marmot's Alpen Component jacket offers the ultimate in on-the-mountain versatility, thanks to a high-performance 3-in-1 design that includes a waterproof breathable shell with PitZips, a powder skirt, removable storm hood and zip-out insulated liner jacket.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by ZZtop from Salt Lake City on Tuesday, January 17, 2017I'm 5'0, 110 lbs and the XS is an exact fit with just enough room for a couple of layers under. If you want more room, size up. Otherwise, great material. Liner jacket is warm and light weight. Outer material is thick waterproof.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Laura from California on Thursday, December 22, 2016Great coat - gives me 2 coats that I can wear separately or together. Good pockets, pit zips, very warm, and looks good.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Skier and Camper from Wisconsin on Thursday, December 1, 2016I bought this jacket to replace a 3-in-1 Columbia jacket. Fit seems very similar; both jackets are a size small, and both fit with allowance for a fleece or sweatshirt underneath (For reference, I am 5'5", 125 lbs, flat-chested).
Overall appearance of the jacket is definitely a looser, athletic fit, so if you're looking for something dressy or figure-flattering this is not your jacket. It's certainly not unflattering, just a function-first garment! I got the red color and found it a very gratifyingly bright red.
Note that the pit zips are only on the outer jacket. The liner jacket doesn't have them.
Pull cords to tighten are on the front near the bottom of the zipper. This makes them very convenient to tighten, but also makes it possible to thread the zipper through a loop of the cord, at which point you have to unzip and try again.
The material of the outer jacket seems thick and likely to last long. I've worn it briefly in moderate rain, and I didn't get wet. The zippers are all good quality, and the pocket zippers are a normal size, not the tiny, difficult-to-zip ones women's jackets sometimes have.
I haven't had the chance to try it out in truly cold weather yet, only down to about 30 deg F, but it seems warm so far!
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MN skiing from Minnesota on Monday, February 22, 2016I have no complaints about this jacket. True to size; exactly what I expected. I've skied a few days in MN (10-25degrees) and it was perfect.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by MO please from Missouri on Thursday, January 14, 2016I wear medium, and after reading reviews ordered a large, and I am glad I did. Large fit perfectly, through the chest and shoulders, but doesn't appear too big in other areas. The fit was perfect throughout. It feels substantial but not bulky. I really like it!
