The quality of this jacket is top notch. Gore tex shell and moderate insulation provide a great combo outter shell. Wife has not field tested this yet but so far she likes it.

Not too sure how much cold it can insulate, but the jacket is pretty warm at 6 degrees celcius during February in Tokyo, Japan. For really cold weather (snow and all), you probably have to wear some layers. I docked 2 stars because of the size and the zips. This size runs really large - it can fit up to size 8, even wearing a fleece jacket inside. The zips were also very annoying, they don't zip smoothly, especially the side vents and the main one. I spend ages securing the double zip at the bottom and then more time trying to zip it up. Couple small annoyances are that the collar and hood area is kind of stiff (I have long hair, so it's not easy getting a braid to lie flat outside), as well as the flap at the zip that doesn't lie flat but, as I said, these are small annoyances that doesn't interfere with the performance. It's a matter of preference, really.

On the plus side, I do like the velcro straps for the thumb holes though I use them to tighten the sleeves as the jacket is a little large and thumb holes don't work for me (too big even after securing as tight as possible). The length is good, up to my hips. The side vents work well, which is a huge plus because I don't want to zip/unzip the jacket unless absolutely neccessary. I love the many, many pockets with a hidden one for cards/ keys etc, so I don't have to bring so much stuff. It's quite comfortable but heavy.

Bottom line: Good investment at a discount, not worth the $450 retail price.

This jacket would be perfect if the zipper would go up or down. Several times I had to remove the jacket over my head. Probably should return it but I love everything about it with the exception of the zipper. Perhaps if you buy one of these your zipper may work well good luck.

Gorgeous color, seems warm, but a size M was huge, almost a size XL on me. It had to go back.

Very warm jacket in 30 degrees , haven't had the chance to wear in freezing weather yet. That will probably be next winter.

This product was not what I expected but since I've sent 4 jackets back already because they weren't what I expected it was beginning to cost more than the jacket to send this one back. While it's listed as insulated it is minimally insulated and not warm enough for the streets of NYC in March I doubt it will be warm enough skiing! The side armpit vents are strangely located. It is water proof but certainly not windproof
