I bought 5 of these because they were under $1 with the coupon deal I had. I don't know that I would want to entrust my life while lost in the woods to the cheesy little compass, but everything else seems to be pretty good. I had just bought something similar at a sporting goods store and paid $3.99. These are of similar quality but a better deal.

Are they worth it? Sure--something useful to have in one's pack as part of the 10 essentials. And they are light and don't take up much room. Would I buy it again? Shoot--I bought 5 of these!

I bought two Ultimate Survival Technologies' 5-in-1 Survival tool's. They were under two bucks each and I figured they were more of a novelty instead of something practical. When the survival tool's arrived I was impressed with the quality. A co-worker was joking about having a whistle to get students attention, so I have her one of the whistles as a gift. Well she got her wish and did not realize how loud the whistle was. Oh! yea she got their attention! This is a good item to have when camping. I plan ordering a few more and using them as stocking stuffers for Christmas.
