The boots were warm and kept my feet dry. Temperatures down to 0 F. I had the same problem noted by several people of blisters on the top of the big toe if I wore a heavy sox.

My husband and I just bought cross country ski gear and these Alpina boots fit the bill. They are warm and comfortable and they were affordable on sale. I had to exchange the size. I wear a women's 10 and ordered the 42's. The boots are hard to tighten and my heel slipped a bit much. The 41's are better. I shopped around and found these to be the best quality and value.

I have been xc skiing for 40 years and these boots are the most comfortable I have ever been in! the bc xc are a wonder to go off trail, which is where I ski.

First, let me say these didn't fit my feet. But that's not the reason for 2 stars.
the boots seem solidly built, and resist torsional movement. However, the way Alpina designed the tongue and laces result in it being nearly impossible to compress the boot anywhere other than at the ankle. No matter how hard you pull the laces, it will not tighten the boot across the ball/arch. In addition, the tongue material is so thin that any pressure here translates relatively unimpeded to the front of your ankle. I was hoping that during a ski the tension on the upper part of the laces would gradually tighten the lower laces. I was wrong, all I ended up with was pain in the ankle where the laces were too tight. Sorry, but headed back for a return.
