This jacket is the best soft shell I have owned. Period. Windproof and apparently waterproof. Love the feel and colors. Not shown in the pictures but the liner is bright orange, which is fine with me and a nice change from the usual black, Seems very sturdy. The hood is large and visibility out of it is excellent. There is a nice wire in the brim to keep it open. The sizing might be a bit short if you are tall. My medium size MH insulation layer stick out of the Baltoro about an inch. No big deal but some might be concerned.

Just a note on the size and inside color for this. The Rab Raptor Soft Shell fit me perfectly in a large but the large in this jacket was too big--even with lots of layering underneath. I'm 6 ft, 175#, 40 chest, 34 waist, and 35 sleeves. A medium would probably fit me but I haven't confirmed this.

Also, the interior color of the jacket I received was a bright orange which I did not expect or like. I returned it.

Otherwise it seems like a high quality garment, perhaps similar to an Arc'teryx Gamma MX hoody (except I don't remember what the hood was like).

Love this jacket. I am 6' and 180lb, Large fits me well and has plenty of room for a fleece layer. I love Patagonia jackets but I hate the size of Patagonia, the medium are usually too tight and Large are too long for me. But this jacket has perfect length for me. it is slightly smaller and shorter than Patagonia, Marmot and MHW in Large size. I order the beluga which is dark grey. The color is great for every day use in windy days with some rain.

Layer underneath for wicked cold days or rock a tee shirt for windy spring conditions, either way the wind stays out and mobility abounds. A great balance of stretch and durability makes this soft shell an affordable workhorse for a wide range of alpine conditions.

Hits all the right marks for a Spring or Fall mid-weight jacket. It's very comfortable, versatile, ruggedly constructed item with triple stitched seams, a beefy well thought out hood and a high protective collar. Pockets are cavernous even though there are only 3 of them. Velcro adjustment tabs on sleeves aren't plain old fabric but die cut rubber. Plus, the jacket looks great and can easily function as business casual wear or for hiking. I'm 6' 170 and the large fit perfectly with room for layering if necessary. A medium would have been more form fitting and would have probably worked well too since the sleeves are nice and long. One thing to note about this jacket is that it's highly breathable and therefore not highly wind resistant, despite what the specs say. It's fine down to 40F with a sweatshirt but if it's very windy or a bit colder you'll need a heavier mid layer which could take you down to 30F. On the plus side, it's going to be hard to overheat in this jacket esp. since the large side pockets double as additional ventilation with sturdy mesh lining material. I bought the gray color which is unique. Overall very happy with this item.

I normally wear an XL in Rab. This jacket was a bit too large in the body but I could have lived with that. The sleeves are way too big around. Not only do they look too big but it leaves a folded/bunched up area at the wrists when the velcro is cinched down.

It would be a great jacket if it fit. Seems well made. The sleeves are nice and long. The black color is really more of a dark charcoal grey which looks really good.

Really liked this jacket. Nice material. Quality build. Sharp looking. If only it fit. I ordered an L, but it was too big (I'm 6', 180 lbs). Had to return and STP doesn't have an M in the grey. If you're bigger or like a looser fit, I recommend this jacket.
