I like Rab a lot, but I was looking for a more rugged pair of shell pants. These are light-weight and might be fine for skiing, but not for expedition guiding as I was looking to use them for. They also run large, both long and big. Sometimes I fit in a size 10, but I think the 8 would have fit better even with layers underneath. I'll be returning them, though they aren't a bad pair of pants.

These pants fit the bill for a thin waterproof pair of pants for touring. It does not have any insulation, and they are sort of like the Gore-Tex pro items where they are made to be thin so that they can breath and keep the water out. It does not look to be for much warmth, so if you want more warmth, upsize so that you can wear heavier baselayer. I have not tried this out on the field yet, but as someone who gets warm quickly and has little trouble with cold, it looks to be a good one for me. I intend to use this for skinning up a ski track and for general winter hiking.

Great pants as a winter or cold weather shell .. great zippers at thighs to let air in and out when you get hot. Really like everything about them except that there are no zippers at the bottoms .. which are always great to take your pants off without removing your boots .. when you get hot while on the mountain or trail. So this is a big issue for active folks .. I kept them but really wish they had the bottom zippers. Fit well .. 5'6'' 131 weight, I bought the Small.

These were listed under '' ski pants '' --- and I incorrectly assumed they would be warm..... They look to be wind-and waterproof.... but NOT for downhill skiing if you want warmth. They are on their way back to STP.

I have worn these pants almost everyday since purchase. My only complaint is that the zippers come right below the crotch region on the pants that are very low... SO I feel like there is a lot of bulk. If they were tighter fit it might not be a problem. I am 5'4" and 105 lbs - there is plenty of room inside for some fleece pants or a baby elephant. I have chosen to keep them though because function outweighs fashion in the cold outdoors!

The sizing seemed pretty dead on. I ordered them a little big so that way another layer could be worn underneath, and this seems plausible. So far there hasn't been any snow to test how waterproof they are, but it feels like a good quality material. Pockets and zips seem capable of a variety of conditions and uses.
