    Size up but great

I first ordered a 1/2 size up then 1 whole size up to make these shoes work. These shoes replaced my Hokas (which I found to become floppy and heavy after 6 mos. of use). They are super stable and snug around your feet. 4 stars only because the toe box feels it needs more cushion.

This is a lot of shoe and a heck of a deal at the STP price. Only have about 30 miles in them so far but they are breaking in nicely. The fit was initially more tight that I expected even after sizing a half size and getting what I normally wear in La Sportiva (bought online). I would have liked to try another half size up, but more than likely would have been too loose in the toe box as there is always a bit of stretch after the break in period. Great grip on every surface and a nice padded tongue. Seems like they breathe well and dry quick. The ride is a bit stiff and firm which is good on technical stuff, but the comfort also seems to be there for the long runs. I've never had an issue with the quality or durability of La Sportiva and I anticipate these will follow suit. Overall these are fantastic trail shoes and would even make a great light hiker.

Well built for the trails. Great traction and great support. And comfy.
RUNS SMALL. Width is true but length is a half to full size short.

Though these shoes are great looking and priced right, I had to return. I found them to be at least a 1/2 size small and very narrow. I usually wear an 11 wide, returned a 44.5(US 11), mainly for width issue.

tried them on ....they do run small ....go half size larger. not as comfortable as my Bushido Trail Running Shoes but these seem a little more durable. Sole is a little weird compared to Bushidos as well. Bushido's fit like gloves Ultra Raptor has a firmer harder fit .....not sure how will behave when trail run yet

I first purchased a pair of Ultra Raptors from REI 1 1/2 years ago and hands down they were the best trail runners I've ever had. That pair has probably 300 miles on them and had the one lower loop where the shoe string passes through not torn, I would still be running in them but they're now used as everyday wear. Aside from the tread being at half of its original height, they are still in great condition. Most of the miles have come in PA where trails here contain rocks, rocks, and more rocks.
I have owned other La Sportiva trail runners as well as trail runners from Salomon and Merrell but none of them fit as well as these. They are very snug and fit my foot like a glove which took some getting used to but now would never have it any other way. My heel is locked in and does not ever move. I'm a huge fan of the toe cap as other trail runners I've worn have lacked a good sturdy cap and running in all the rocks of PA that is a necessity. I have smashed my toes very badly in other shoes but your toes are much more protected in the Raptors. Grip on slick rocks is great compared to all the other trail runners I've used as well.
The price of these on STP is phenomenal compared to retail so I bought 3 pairs! I'm not a huge fan of the blue as my previous pair was black, but for the price it was a no brainer. I won't need to buy another pair of trail runners for many years.

I ordered the Akasha in 43 (10) and this Ultra Raptor in 43 & 43.5 (10.5). Normally I'm a 9.5 to 10 and I usually order a 10 since my feet are a little wide. The 43 in Ultra Raptor fit perfectly. The 43 in Akasha were too narrow. The 43.5 were still narrow but my guess is they will loosen a bit after use. Not sure which I will keep or if I will keep both. I can't comment on durability or comfort during run since I haven't used them yet. I will try to remember to update the review after I use them.

I ordered a ton of different running shoes online and these were my hands down favorite. Great cushion and support, excellent quality construction. Of all the trail runners I tried, these ones seemed like they would stand up to any run you took them on, they could certainly outrun me.

Alas, I learned the hard way that I need to size up from my boots for running shoes and they didn't have my size in this shoe. I ended up getting a pair of the La Sportiva Wildcats which is a good shoe, similar to this one but not nearly as burly.
