Verified Buyer Reviewed by Viv from Florida on Wednesday, August 17, 2016It's been a great hat for the price point. Something pricier might be a bit more lightweight and breathable, but this does the trick for short day hikes for me.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by rickybobby from Ky on Wednesday, May 4, 2016Keeps the rain out for sure and good breathability.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Eastern Oregon Cyclist from Oregon on Sunday, April 24, 2016Nice hat and glad that it is breathable nylon. But be advised, what is called "light gray" is virtually white. Exchanged this one for the black, as the gray was just too glaring.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by seabug from SC on Tuesday, September 15, 2015I like the fact that the back brim is a little wider to cover neck but the front is a good length so its not floppy over eyes. Size is perfect.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by petpal from TX on Monday, August 24, 2015Like the wider brim, especially the wider brim in back to help protect neck.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Keri swim, hike, fish, bike, ski, kayak from Wisconsin on Monday, July 27, 2015I bought this hat for several reasons: #1. it came in a color other than black or brown. #2. large brim that is longer in the back to provide protection for my neck. #3. band is slightly adjustable with Velcro in back #4. chin strap #5. water resistant/water proof.
So far it has met and exceeded by my expectations. I purchased the Dark Teal Color
TEAL Color is dark enough to will hide dirt but makes me easier to find when with friends in a crowd
Fabric is definitely waterproof, was in a down pour but my head stayed dry
Brim is stiff with some type of foam inside, foam is bendable/moldable to adjust angle of brim for maximum protection
Foam allows for some floatation in water, only tried it for about 1 minute, unsure if left in for long time how long it would float
Band is somewhat adjustable allows for mild tightening or loosening for slight variations in head size
Band is made of soft fabric that does allow some sweat to be wicked away but stays moist from sweat
Chin strap is functional and allows for securing hat to head in wind
Chin strap is not removable like some hats but it is not really a con because other hats with removable straps have the risk of strap falling off or detaching risking the loss of the hat in wind. I just tuck the strap up into the hat before I put it on if I don't want to use it you don't' notice or feel it.
Teal color is not really neutral, may not match with everything this is not a fashion hat but for function.
Material is a water proof material so it only "breathes" minimally, I wear it gardening in 90 F weather and I haven't noticed issues with extra sweat.
Brim is stiff you can bend in half but does not compact down into tiny ball like some travel hats do, does back down flat
Band has small area of Velcro at the back to adjust for tightness but only adjust for slight head variations not big ones. It did work to allow me to tighten it on a windy day for more secure wear.
Also when you pull Velcro tighter it affects the shape of the back brim (there becomes a pucker or curve to it, doesn't really matter as it is in the back but might bother some people visually, functionally and feel wise I noticed no effect)
Band material is soft but once sweated through it doesn't dry very well while you are wearing. Once removed that band fabric dries quickly enough
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Daria from az on Wednesday, July 15, 2015Light weight enough that it can be used as a sunhat (and a good brim size--large without being so unwieldy that it's ugly). It is also water resistant/water proof enough (have not test that aspect) that it can be worn for wet whether.
