Verified Buyer Reviewed by Locomotove from Connecticut on Tuesday, December 26, 2017Okay, I like this jacket. It's my second one from STP. Polartec Alpha insulation seems to work well and I also like the breathability of the jacket's side panels. I use this jacket while hiking and around town and if needed, between a base layer and a Gore-Tex jacket. The Gore-Tex jacket has pit zips and that combination with the Isotherm helps keep me warm and dry.

Verified Buyer Reviewed by Locomotive from New England on Saturday, January 7, 2017This is my first piece of gear made with Polartec Alpha. I'm a big fan of down and own two Ghost Whisperer jackets that I use for layering and with Gore-Tex shells as needed. I bought the IsoTherm jacket to try out the Polartec Alpha material and because I like the features including the angle wing design and several videos I reviewed before the purchase indicated it's warmth and construction qualities were excellent. I'm not disappointed with this purchase. My primary use of the jacket is for casual wear but I will also use it for late fall and early spring backpacking along with a lightweight wool base layer. I live in New England and so far, the jacket has performed well in temps in the low 20's (F). Without additional layering, I think that's about the limit of the jacket's warmth. I've noticed with the down jackets, even a little dampness (e.g., snow) causes the material to feel damp. In the same conditions, the Isotherm has not had any issues and has become my go-to and around town jacket. It will be interesting to see if the number of Polartec products increases. Thanks for reading.
Reviewed by A disappointed buyer from San Francisco, CA on Monday, January 11, 2016I bought this to play tennis in. It's chill during the winter in SF. After playing for forty minutes in this jacket, I noticed that my hands were wet. Sweat was collecting on my forearms and dripping onto my hands. Because I paid 7 or 8 bucks shipping and it would cost as much to return, on top of which having worn it once doesn't guarantee Sierra Trading Post returning it, I have reluctantly keep the jacket. I also have an Alpha insulation jacket by Patagonia that doesn't seem to suffer this problem of acting like a plastic bag. I haven't played tennis in it. I have lightweight jackets from Marmot that I love which is why I bought this. Save yourself the trouble. Don't buy this and if you do, buy it from someplace with a decent return policy, like REI.
Reviewed by Neeman from Israel on Thursday, November 26, 2015It is a cross between a fleece and a jacket
Has bulk with no weight
The outer layer is wind resistant, not more than that
The jacket is cut smaller
I normally take a medium for a mid layer and a larger for a outer layer
I ordered medium and it is tight round the back
Order one size up
Verified Buyer Reviewed by san from Oregon on Monday, August 24, 2015Jacket is very comfortable. The jacket has 1 major issue. The jacket body area material is very soft and zipper catches easily and fabric destroyed on day one. The softshell on sleeve is nice and I wished the whole jacket in that softshell material. Hand cuff on this isotherm is not great. I must prefer to Arc'teryx Atom LT hand cuff style. Bought L size and actual ptp measurement is 23 inch.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Jason from wisconsin on Saturday, April 4, 2015This jacket performed well above expectations. I tend to sweat a lot when backpacking and then get cold. This jacket definitely helped keep me dry, even when it got colder than expected and we were backpacking in 30 degree weather. All I needed was a light base layer and this. The Polartec Alpha insulation in this definitely exceeded my expectations. It's the mid-layer I've ever owned that actually was wond resistant and breathable enough to stay dry. Finally, you can't beat the weight, if you looking to reduce your backpacking weight, replacing a heavy/bulky mid-layer jacket with this is definitely worth it.
