Verified Buyer Reviewed by Mike from Boston, MA on Thursday, October 27, 2016Great fleece for aerobic activity. I use it as a standalone or under my soft-shell with or without a base layer depending on the temperature. This fleece is very breathable, which is great for biking, hiking, etc. My go to mid layer. Great buy.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by Ian from Oregon on Saturday, February 20, 2016This is a another great jacket from Black Diamond but it is cut very slim. I'm 6'4, 180lbs with an athletic/thin frame and I ordered a Large. The length and sleeves were great but it was much tighter through the body than I expected. It makes a great mid-layer but I would size up if you plan to use it as a standalone fleece/jacket.
Verified Buyer Reviewed by LT Hiker from RI on Saturday, February 6, 2016Bought large. I'm 6-1', 197, 45 chest, 34 waist. Fit is snug, which makes for ideal layering, but too techy tight for casual wear. Sleeves and body are a bit longer than std fit, which is good for keepin out drafts at the waist and arms when reaching. Fits easily under a pack waist belt and climbing harness. No need for hand pockets on this hoodie and the chest pocket is functional for gels, energy bar, or phone. Hood fits like a balaclava stopping right under the mouth. Works great under a helmet and you can still wear a beanie underneath the hood for extra warmth if needed. Fabric is nice, soft grid on the inside and tight weave exterior giving it better wind protection than std fleece. Light stretchy fabric at cuff helps cool wrists when sweaty, allows sleeves to be pushed up, and makes it easy to slip on gloves or outer layers without snagging. Nice touch. Used it as outer layer trail running in winter and rock climbing in fall at temps in low 30s and it felt great. Wore as mid layer winter hiking and ice climbing down to 4 deg. with a softshell jacket and merino 260 base layer. If I was x-country skiing or hiking uphill, even in 20s and maybe lower, I'd lose the softshell and wear this fleece as an outer layer. It breathes really well and dries fast while keeping me comfortable and warm. Don't expect this to keep you warm standing around in cold weather, but it's perfect for high output cold weather activities. Almost bought another one at STP's ridiculous low price. Would buy a half zip if BD made one.
