Verified Buyer Reviewed by Suzanne from Albuquerque on Thursday, March 10, 2016Now, before reading this and thinking "wow she must be really wierd," consider that I have an extremely average size 9 B foot and am fairly comfortable in a $15 pair of plastic high heels I bought the same day...
I have the double trouble of needing to maintain a certain professional image while also complying with federal safety regulations. Since OSHA regs rule out most fashionable professional shoes, and my rheumatologist has asked me to stop already with the $15 shoes, I was happy to see this style. I'd never purchased Dansko but their reputation was very encouraging. Tried them on in a local shop that could match the STP price but they had only a size 40, which was too big. In other Dansko styles that were in the store, I fit a 39 so that's what I ordered. When they arrived I was worried about the tightness and stiffness, but the great Dansko cult following insists "all Danskos are tight at the collar until you break them in" and the length was fine so I put on my comfy trouser socks and went to work. Within an hour I was limping, and I had broken skin across the tops of my toes before the day was out. Yes they are tight at the collar, but they also fit like an A width and the height of the toe box is bizarrely low, which is why the *tops* of my toes rub. I have skinny toes that have never rubbed the tops of anything. There is also a defective seam across the top of the left shoe, so that whole foot turned into a big blur of pain.
I have tried powering through the break-in several other times but this is ridiculous. Deciding whether I should risk throwing away any additional money by trying to stretch them. Aside from the atrocious sizing and defective seam, the quality of materials doesn't seem quite worth the full retail price - basically extremely stiff mediocre-quality leather with a nice finish that scuffed easily. The insole is indeed nicely made but has no arch support, and is glued in, so you will not just be popping it out to insert your orthotics as the description implies.

Reviewed by April from North Carolina on Monday, January 4, 2016These shoes are the most comfortable shoes I have ever owned. I love them. I wear them to work and even to church and special events. They are classy and fit right in to any occasion I need them for. I would recommend these shoes to anyone that needs a comfortable shoe that can be worn many hours without aching in the foot area.
