Customer Reviews Of:
Brooks PureGrit 2 Trail Running Shoes (For Men)

Closeouts. Though Brooks' PureGrit 2 trail running shoes are minimalist by design, they offer purist neutral runners a wealth of advanced running features. Most notably, the wide outsole provides a trail-biting platform that splays outward to increase ground contact and grip.

Sorry folks, my previous review highlighted what I appreciated about these shoes. However, after more time, mileage, moleskin, blister care, Tegaderm, etc, etc., if you pronate, even mildly like myself, these shoes will blister shred your inner arch. My right foot runs about a half size smaller than my left. While this typifies most people one foot or another, and rarely poses problems for me, my right foot has begun a hobbit metamorphosis as I write this post. Save yourself some trips to the drug store and some fiery feet by going with a more stable pair, or none at all with a 0-drop... I made the mistake of assuming neutral trail runners could support my arch. WRONG! Brooks still makes one of the finest running shoes out there, so I'm going with the Pureflow. More will be revealed...

Really like the design of this shoes tongue; attached totally on one side to keep it from shifting over to one side.

Years ago, I adopted the barefoot running style and strictly wore 1st gen., 0-mm drop Merrell trail and road runners. After taking more than a year off due to life circumstances, I discovered I couldn't jump back into a 0mm drop Vibram platform. So I tried the Brooks, 4 mm drop, PureGritâ„¢ trail runners as a sort of crossover. After just one week of tramping up and down rocky, uneven, and sometimes muddy terrain, these dogs pushed the limits of my expectation. The last fit true to size and I love the curved support of the upper design. I may never return to Merrell's 0mm drop after this experience with Brooks. Durability remains to be seen, but for now, I am most impressed!

The tongue is hard-mounted on the outside of the step, eliminating that annoying tongue migration phenomenon that I usually deal with. They are very light and minimalist for trail running shoes, which I really love. Comfortable and breathable. So far, I love them.
