I mail ordered this and needed to remove the back pad for a snug but not too tight fit in size small, but it will still protect my head. My only complaint is that the fleece chin strap cover (one of the reasons I chose this helmet over others) is sewn down on one end and bunches up a little when I adjusted the strap as narrow as I need it = poor design.

Did what it needed for my skiiing trip. Didn't have to use it much for falls but kept my head warm and protected if needed.

Second day wearing this helmet today and I whacked my head pretty good... was very happy I was wearing it!

I measure a 59 cm traditionally, but with older Giro's I've worn large before and initially purchased the Large. Just could never get the Large to feel like it was holding onto my head. Liked everything else about the helmet so when Mediums became available recently I ordered one with the hope of being able to put in the thinner pads and make it fit. With the thin pads it fit perfect and held on to my head a lot more. I don't wear any balaclava or anything under the helmet, that would maybe kick me back up into the larger size, but the Medium fit my 59cm head perfectly. So definitely pay attention to the cm sizing on this one. Don't just buy a Large because you think you should be a Large (I'd maybe even call the Large an XL for how it fits)

Unfortunately I cannot rate performance, because it runs smaller than the sizing indicates. My son's head measures 22 1/8" or 57 cm. I purchased the size Medium which claims to fit circumference 21.8 to 23.2" We're good, experienced skiers and we know how to fit our gear. He's worn Giro helmets in the past that were a good fit for his head shape. This one just seems to run small, and doesn't have a great adjustment system. The sizing is done by pad fitting, which would be fine as the large adjustment gears at the base of the head, and the plastic harnesses can sometimes be uncomfortable. He put the helmet on as it came, without adding any additional padding and it was just a bit too tight. Meaning it probably fits about 22" without additional padding. There is no pre-installed padding to remove to increase the size, just thicker pads to add to decrease the size. Otherwise, the shape and fit was OK, but at 13 he's not full grown, and I wanted a helmet with the extra inch to inch and half of growth in it. I would exchange it for the size Large, but that isn't available in the color he wanted. If the size were as described, it should've been a great helmet. Removeable earpads are great for winter & spring skiing, goggles clip was adequate, it was light weight and comfortable, and expected the ventilation to be adequate but could not verify the goggle compatibility/anti-fog feature.

Bought this for a ski trip; at the price, it made more sense to buy than rent, since I can use it in the future.

The fit is good overall. I thought the chin strap was a little difficult to adjust with the padded part not really moving. Since there's no visor, it can be easy to not push your goggles up fast enough (didn't feel good when they small back on your face).

I only fell once, so I can speak for his it handles impacts.

I refined getting a color other than white, like I did, if you don't want to blend in with the mountain.
