I was really excited for this jacket and even more thrilled when I found it on sale. Admittedly, I am using it incorrectly (as a single layer rather than as a midlayer), but it does not disappoint.

My first reaction is that the lining is really soft and warm. It makes me enjoy wearing it. I am usually cold, but I live in Wisconsin (not a great combination). I wore it outside when it was around 5 degrees Fahrenheit and it actually kept me warm as long as I was moving. I have not tried it standing still.

It is heavier and less packable than down and insulated synthetic of similar price, but it is definitely warmer, which was really important to me. I think it will be good for backpacking, but I have not tried it.

The cut is not ideal and I wish it went down a little further to cover the top of my pants, but it's a good jacket and I can deal with a slightly less-flattering look.

Bought a large, I'm 5'8" 140lbs 36C and this fits really well. There's room to layer, without being too big or sloppy
Not as warm as I'd thought it would be after reading other reviews-so only 4 stars. Great jacket though!

This jacket weighs nothing! And it's so warm. I have two other wool/poly insulated jackets, one from Ibex, one from Icebreaker. This is the lightest and warmest and I've hardly taken it off since it's arrived. I promptly ordered another color. The Icebreaker one is better looking but this one is so light, you hardly know you have it on. When it gets below 30, I'll put a shell over but so far, it's been plenty warm on it's own. Great jacket.

I ordered one for my daughter's Christmas gift-and when it came, decided I'd like one too. I haven't worn it yet-as mine will be under the tree as well. Light weight and appears well made. I've liked my other Smart Wool, and expect the same of this.

I have been looking at and weighing buying one of these Smartwool hoodies for a long time. Just sorry I waited so long. This jacket offers lightweight warmth and protection from the cold. I love the knit insets for flexibility and range of motion. This also delivers warmth - wore it yesterday during a windy overcast day with temps in low 30's and was actually too warm once I got going (and I suffer from the cold, so this was a happy surprise). Great for hiking, too, or other outdoor activities. Flattering fit that accentuates curves in a good way. I got the medium - am 5'4", 125 lbs, 36B, and the fit couldn't be better. I've been wearing it with a single merino base layer underneath, but there's definitely room for additional layering. Like that it comes with 3 useful pockets that zip for security. Zipper garage is nice, too - no more chin snags. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is that the zipper snags when I zip it up - have to stop to pull the fabric away from the zipper teeth. You can't zip this fast - have to take it slowly. Other than that, considering the great discount I got on this jacket, I couldn't be happier. This will give me 3-season wear.
