These are amazing boots. I purchased them because I needed something warm that was also good for walking. These fit the bill and more. They are stiff and took a few walks to break in a bit, but are very comfortable with both a thin and thick sock. I bought a half size up to allow for a thick sock and they seem true to size.

These boots got their maiden voyage during the blizzard last weekend in New York City. My pooch and I walked through 24-inches of drifting snow, and I was comfortable, warm and sure-footed. What a joy. In the following days they kept me completely dry as the corners turned into slushy ponds. They fit true to size.

Forgot to mention in my previous review: I generally wear 7 shoe/boot for thin to medium sock (6-1/2 in a sandal or running shoe if it runs wide in toe area, but not wide in heel/ankle area), 7 (occasionally 7-1/2) in casual, walking shoe/boot depending on style and thickness of sock. I ordered a 7 U.S. (5 EUR) in this boot -- fit is perfect.

Needed a boot for cold weather hiking and snowshoeing -- Chicago weather is often harsh: very cold/damp/wet/icy. I am a firm believer in having the correct gear for conditions and I love boots! Bought super warm/waterproof Sorel snow boots last year, but still needed a supportive/waterproof/insulated boot with good grip. Spent many years outdoors with my Huskies, who have since passed and decided to get back out on the trails. Have a pair of really good Timberlands that aren't insulated so thought I would try Jack Wolfskin Winter Trail Texapore @ an affordable price on Sierra TP. Did a good amount of online research and I seem to lucked out "so-far" with these comfortable fit out-of-the box. Boot felt immediately comfy to my feet and well supportive around ankle (which I need), no heel slip (I have narrow heel), no instep pain (have high instep/arch), nice fit in toe area (my foot is a bit wider just below toes --rather like a duck). Took for a short walk (3/4 mike on paved sidewalk) to break-in. Felt a little rubbing on the bone right below ankle (I have slight pronation). So I stopped and felt inside boot where rubbing and it was a fold-over next to the tongue, so I adjusted/ smoothed it out and pulled the tongue over slightly and the rubbing stopped. So I concluded, this can be dealt with when lacing. Temp about 30 degrees, so warmer than usual, so I wore a medium weight wool sock and foot was very comfortable. Very nice looking boot and quality-made. Good sale price. I am satisfied with purchase. Age: 66. Former advanced-intermediate downhill skier. Currently: XC skier, snowshoer and casual hiker.

Can only comment on fit and look as I'm sending them back. Ordered both the 7.5 and 8 for my 9.5-10B feet. The 7.5 (41 on the box) was too wide mid-foot, and i couldn't tighten them up enough with the laces. Though the toes are somewhat pointed, the boot then balloons out, hence the bullet shape. Poor fit and seriously ugly. Wanted to like, but no-go.
